It's been a while since I played FPS, I just got bored with them, they weren't fun.

The last time I REALLY enjoyed an FPS it was probably Call of Duty Black Ops (not sure but I think it was either 1 or 2) and it had the submenu from the main campaign of challenge missions. I liked how smooth it was, the type of weapons and that it was stupidly realistic.

I got a new video card (1070) and 27" Dell IPS monitor and felt in the mood for an FPS, so hoping you guys might have a recommendation (PC only obviously).

I played Hardline on my ps4, but I suck at FPS on consoles, accuracy is hard to get for me. I enjoyed resistance on the PS3.

Prefer single player campaigns not multiplayer.

I have been playing some Sniper Elite 3 which is ok, and also MSGV Phantom (Which I am finding hard work to enjoy).

I have been seriously considering this I must admit, I don't like MP (Mostly because I play very casually and some people live their lives on these games so you end up getting savaged).

Is there a demo or something of it, so I can try it before I buy it?

Wow it's $80! That's steep. Doesn't seem to be around on usual key selling sites unless it's region locked!

I purchased to Metro Redux Bundle on steam (which includes the re-done Metro 2033 and Last Light) since it was on sale for $9. I played through the original Metro 2033 and a bit of Metro Last Light and I liked them.

These games are more atmospheric and thrilling than games like CoD though, so they may not be what you looking for.

Overwatch is awesome. I got a whole heap of mates playing casually for about an hour some nights after work.

So you can buy the Non-Origins edition for $39.99 USD. Here is the link: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/buy/#overwatch-edition

The origins edition is $20 USD more, but you don't really get much unless you are a big blizzard fan and want some pointless WOW items and some diablo, heroes of the storm and starcraft portraits and bits and bobs.

Its quite good, you can jump on, usually find a game in about 1 minute, and the generally tend to last about 10-15 minutes per game. They did offer open beta back in mid-may for 1 week where everyone with a battle.net account could play it for free.

I get about a 28ms ping to the servers in sydney. Sometimes it routes me to a game in singapore or usa where the ping makes it a bit unplesant, but you can block the overwatch servers IP address on your firewall and it usually finds a game for you in Aussie.

The other FPS you might want to try is DOOM. I am contemplating this one at the moment.

overwatch is certainly one of the most casual MP games ive played.

they actually are pretty smart in somehow making it casual while still rather enjoyable.

the way you can just drop in and drop out, really does appeal to me and for a novice MP player there is a relatively large lack of salt in the water. Somewhat refreshing.

For the more keen chat, there's a bunch of cool guys making a community of it over on discord, Obviously they play it a little less casual but friendly as can be.

As above, DOOM would be my next recommendation. Father ild also put in the only plays single player range for FPS games, he absolutely loves DOOM.

What the ACTUAL Frack! It won't let me login, says I need an authenticator, so I downloaded that and now it won't login because it's not a device it recognises?! Says send a customer service request, but that it could take SEVERAL DAYS.

I'm also a single player fan and for FPS I loved the Borderlands series, got good value for money from that. Finished Doom 2016 and then went back in to get all the secrets and achievements.

For a third-person single player I got a lot of enjoyment out of completing Mad Max (the long way by doing just about every challenge and not just the storyline), and the Batman series. and GTA V is a must.

I do still play multiplayer and play overwatch from time to time. Also playing dead by daylight which is great fun at a much slower pace.

For me I youtube 'nameofgame' playthroughs and see how long I can watch it without getting bored....If I can stick more than a few minutes I'll probably give it a go.

Well I have it, and have played it. I have some questions.

I can start a new thread but it's not many questions.

So far doing ok, my first game a 9 player kill streak, the other a 17 player streak. The problem was that 10 seconds from the end of the defense, the game just ended. Said not enough players and started searching again. That seems strange to me ? It happened twice.

Is that normal?

That sounds like you were in a pregame skirmish.

At the start it does a skirmish till it gets enough players. Then it has a proper game
