I've just purchased a couple of games for my young son while I am here in the UK. It suddenly occurred to me - do they still use region coding? Should I return to store as they may not work in NZ. Only here for a few days and do not have enough time to go back into the city unless I have to.

Any guidance appreciated.

yep it'll work on your kiwi Xbox One, I don't personally own a XBone so maybe wait for a second opinion, but google said that it should.

From what I can tell, imported DVDs still will be region locked on the Xbox One, but games aren't.

It's all good. You don't have to go back to the store. Region won't be a problem in XBOX one. There are few countries where no Disk is available for XBOX. But still people are playing by importing these things. So, you and your son are good to go.

There's a high possibility that you might have purchased the PAL region code games. Good news is both NZ and UK use PAL version when it comes to games. Although region coding applies to the xbox one games but you are on safe side.
