Hiya,

Does anyone here know of a good keyboard/mouse combination for use with a Playstation 3 ?
Would prefer something wireless, compact (ie. not a 308 key keyboard as they all seem to be these days :-) and not bluetooth as I want to use it on the Linux side easily as well.

Any pointers ?

Thanks!

Mark

Hey i know this sort of off topic but is there a Linux Distro for PS3?
i know they had linux on PS2 i think it was redhat i can't quite remember but it did require an external hdd via usb etc.
From my knoweldge anyway i thought you could use any USB mouse/keyboard?

Yup the PS3 certainly does have Linux :-)

And better yet instructions on how to install an "Other OS" onto the PS3 are provided by Sony in the PS3 manual .. how friendly is that ?  Especially for a megacorp intent only on money :-)

YellowDog is the longest running distro for PS3, but there is Gentoo, Ubuntu and a few others around.

I'm going to put on YellowDog 6.0 on to my machine, once I find a nice pretty keyboard and mouse to match the PS3 :-)

The only major thing to be aware of is that you need a high definition TV (720p or above) otherwise the experience will not be pleasing to look at.

Yeah that's pretty amazing that they have included in there manual on how to install other OS's, Considering that messing around with there firmware/os usually voids a waranty.Example being the orginal xbox with the Evo Dashboard even though putting the modchip in there in the first instance will void the waranty. But i do understand the horrors of not using the HDMI cable things seem to look a abit fuzzy atleast on a 42 inch.

To be honest with you i've never heard of the yellowdog distro is it debian based by any chance?

Not sure what it is based off to be honest .. but Terrasoft are well known for their Linux distros for Apple PowerPC hardware, probably why they could do a PS3 port so quickly.

Link is : http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/ydl/explanation.shtml

I also like that Sony give instructions on how to put in a bigger harddisk in the PS3 .. again with no warrenty voiding .. they must have been taking their happy pills when they signed that off :-)

Ah i see that yellowdog is fedora based. I think it's amazing people still use the orginal fedora core since it was orginally just a testbed.
Maybe Sony took notice when they saw how popular external hdd's and linux distros were on ps2 even though it was damn expensive, i remember ordering an externall hdd for ps2 and that set me back around 800-900 but it had linux (RedHat) already on it and came with keyboard + mouse. But still at the time it was more expensive then the console itself haha
