With Christmas getting nearer and all my sons friends are Minecraft addicts, what’s the cheapest option for buying an Xbox one?, is it still worth using YouShop or buying locally or in Aussie? . I have seen the Minecraft bundles at jbhi au for around 278 on a good sale they are 319 at the moment. Any recommendations?

If you hold fire for a sale, last spin around I believe they hit $299 for the console and an additional game. I would be surprised if it doesn't happen again, although if you really want to be the hero, you could splash a little more and grab the limited edition that's on the way (I doubt it'll be $599 for long), https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/store/d/xbox-one-s-1tb-console-minecraft-limited-edition-bundle/.

But yeah, $299 retail NZ isn't unexpected, as it hit that this may past and you might even get some freebies. Hardly worth the effort to get it shipped across.

I asked jbhifi in town they seemed to think if I brought in Aussie it would be covered in NZ such a price difference here

I'd be wary of that - Microsoft MIGHT honour the warranty, but they'd be completely within their rights to deny you the warranty in New Zealand, as you would be classified as the Manufacturer.

With that said, most of the Xbox stuff is handled from Australia anyway, so you might also be just fine.

But I'd buy local, because if I was buying an Xbox for a kid, I'd MUCH rather be able to walk back into a shop and out again with a new one, than to have a dud one on hand and have to explain that waiting 2 weeks is normal.

I wouldn't go with the older (black) console, I would be going for a Xbox One S. This is a very good deal when you consider what is included. You could always buy it and sell off what you don't want, which makes it a very affordable console.

I'm keen to find the cheapest option for a S though I think it's a matter of timing.

I just want an Ultra HD Blu-ray player and they are the cheapest when they are on sale. If Sony had brains and put an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive in the PS4 Pro I'd drop money it.

The One X is due out in a month, so that combined with Christmas I'd expect some pretty sharp deals to be had.
