Hey guys,

So I preordered an Xbox One X via Mightyape last year sometime and basically forgot about it until about a week ago. Turns out I was allocated one of the supposedly VERY limited Scorpio editions. Launch is looming large but so too is an expensive Christmas trip overseas to see family... now I’m wondering if I should:

A - cancel my preorder
B - leave it as-is and find the cash to keep it by selling some stuff, or
C - take delivery but list on trade me in the hope of making a few extra dollars to go towards the holiday.

What do people think? Is there likely to be a market for it above and beyond the standard edition which is still readily available? If I was going to list it I’d most likely put a reserve of the price paid with no buy now to see where it goes - is this considered scalping?

Keen for any and all input (or offers 😉).

I don't think it'd fetch any value greater than what you've paid for it. Anybody diehard enough to want one will have preordered already, and there are likely to be a few people who cancel their preorders at the last minute, so there will probably be limited amounts of stock available anyway.

I’m definitely leaning the way of keeping it and your suggestion is genius... the neighbours have a lovely Weber BBQ that gets next to no use and given the weather we’ve been having, I doubt they’ll even miss it...

Yeah I’m thinking the same alright although having done a bit of research this morning, it does seem like the Scorpio Edition sold out extraordinarily fast... there may be some people out there that missed out and would have interest, as well as possibly some latecomers (like me) who might only have learned about the special edition after the fact.

Dunno, gonna think on it a bit more...

Do you have the physical console? Trademe are quite anal about asking for proof of that, with even going to the extent of making people open things and take a photo with a copy of something to prove the date.

Good observation and thanks for the input. No I don’t have it yet but I’m playing the odds that I will before TM notice and/or action any follow-up.

I got shipping confirmation this morning and a couple of updates during the day so I’m expecting to take delivery tomorrow morning around 8:30am if the courier stays true to his usual form.

Thereafter I’ll take a pic with the newspaper and upload it to update the listing.

Picked up the project Scorpio edition this morning, after pre-order months ago, does not disappoint.

Amazed at how silent the unit is, compared to the original and the S i had,and the PS4, this is even quieter on idle, ramps up a little when its being playing a game a while, still remains on the very quiet side. Can really notice the difference on the games load times, and the visuals for the enhanced games are really noticeable from where i have been playing the same games this week. Kicks out some heat out the back too, so its doing a good job on the venting.

Assassins creed truly does look amazing HDR, 4K, is done well, even new call of duty, you can notice the extra details in the multiplayer. There's a nice demo out today for it as well called "insects" to demonstrate HDR, and 4K on and off.

Build quality is good on both the unit and the controller, much like the S.

Using Samsung KS8000 as the display, its quite wondrous, its no OLED, but neither is my wallet.

I preordered from microsoft. Yesterday was charged and the order shows processing. No delivery today at work. Disappointed in them.

Received mine first thing and it was sold on TM before lunch. Disappointing to hear that MS haven’t come through for it’s direct customers :(

A little off topic, but is there any benefit to the One X over the One S if you don't have a 4K TV?

Does it render non-enhanced games at true 1080p instead of 720p like the original and S models do for most games?
