intersting.  The Gamesman just didn't really maintain momentum.  I know in Palmerston North their store is kinda out of the way, which probably doesn't help.

Never used them.
We buy all our games from DSE for the 10% VIP discount, or from GPStore pretty much. I've only ever gone to EB when they have got in aussie stock because the NZ shipment is delayed.

:(, that sux's I only ever go into EB when They've got a sale, cause I've found them to be more expensive then the other local games stores.

Looks like DSE is going to be my local store of choice.

I'll probably still get most games from mates in the US though, even with shipping it's still gets here sooner and cheaper.

I don't really use Gamesman (online and brick'n mortar) at all, since they're pricier than my local games store, or EB-sales.

Hey Ahmad, are you "Ahmad" from Geekpulp?

Hi chiefie,

Sorry for the late response - for some reason I didn't notice an email notify for your post.

Yes I am Ahmad from Geekpulp.

For those interested, this story has got some pretty wide coverage worldwide. Seems that people aren't so happy with large corporates engulfing independents all over the place.

For example this, with a cool photoshop ;)

From the sounds of things, this take over will be happening as soon as the 14th of July!
Those of you with customer orders on stock may want to make sure you have a receipt... who knows how seamless this process will be.

Thats a shame, I always found the guys in the Lambton Quay store great to deal with and very savvy about games etc. Plus they were always keen to match any offers if you showed them the proof. Plus it was handy to have one across the road should I want to wander down and have a look through the new releases.

Gamesman was always the most expensive... but they were always the friendliest and most knowledgable gaming company around, I sure hope that doesn't change!!

Hi again everyone - this news has now been all but confirmed.

Some good news out of this is the rumour that The Gamesman will remain in its online form.

Gamesman are more knowledgable and provide far better service the EB games - plus they will match competitors pricing (EB do also - just more painful) and their own online price - which is generally always cheaper.

There is a certain EB games store in a certain Westfield Mall in the Wellington region which I absolutely hate going to... you guys know who you are. Your service sucks.

I was chatting to an EB manager the other day and he was surprised this remained a secret for so long as they've all known for ages.  According to him, there are no disgruntled employees and all are happy with the change(he would say that though).

From what he knows, not all Gamesman stores will be rebranded as EB but will have to support the same policies (trade-ins, etc.).
