Xbox gamer currently using an LG OLED 55" panel for gaming on my OneX in HDR.

I am moving house and will be changing my setup, and would like to game off a smaller monitor ~27" - 34", budget $1800.

I basically want to buy the best monitor out there (for FPS), and want to ensure it can take advantage of HDR titles, super low input lag and have stunning pictures.

A lot of monitors seem to claim HDR support, but they barely break 500nits and usually only have HDMI 2.0 (2.1 prefer for future proof).

I have little knowledge when it comes to monitor specs, and monitors seem to talk about free-sync this, g-sync that, and tbh I dont know which is best suited for the OneX GPU. So, what do I need? I have the mindset that I need an OLED panel, probably because that's what I've known to love with my TV, but in reality, is that overkill for just gaming?

Please point me in the right direction...whats the absolute best monitor for the OneX, and if you know of any new tech coming to the market later this year, then let me know if its better to wait out until then. Am I being overkill with the OLED thought, or is it still worth it on a smaller panel?

Check out the Acer Predator monitors. They are very impressive.

Xbox One X supports Freesync now, so you'll want Freesync.

If you're after a monitor, you're only going to get LED, there's no consumer options for OLED monitors yet that I'm aware of, there are a couple of ghastly expensive prosumer ones.

At that resolution, you're not getting the type of panel you're after, they simply don't exist. The smallest panel I'm aware of that'll deliver you the best quality possible seems to be the Philips 436M6VBPAB, which is bleeding edge new. My mate in Australia brought the cheaper model that only does 650 nits peak, and seems fairly chuffed, however it doesn't support Freesync. Still, this is pretty much the best panel you can get for console gaming right now, unless you start shopping for OLED TVs.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

The Acer Predators look nice, but they use g sync which will be wasted with the OneX which uses freesync right?

That Philips panel 436M6VBPAB looks allgood too but it's 40"+ so a little outside my parameters of 27-34"ish

Doing a bit of research, people are saying don't even worry about 1000nits for a monitor because it just gets too bright at that close range. What you want is the high contrast and therefore pure blacks, so ideally OLED but there doesn't seem to be any oled panels.

Any other recommendations for a monitor?
~27-34"
HDR10 pref wide colour gamut
Low Input Lag
Freesync for the OneX
HDMI 2.1?

Hey Batman cheers for that video.

It all sounds impressive by what hes saying, but without trying, I noticed some crazy screen tearing on the new monitor he was repping.

Anyway, those monitors boast g-sync...I need freesync. In fact all these good monitors seem to be running g-sync..is that because

g-sync>freesync, or are they much the same just running off nvidia vs amd gfx cards?

I don't think what you want exists, yet. If I were you I'd seriously consider a 4K 43" TV if you can fit it.

if he wants best performance for FPS, then get monitor with the least lag, wired least laggy controller, wired fibre internet.

He's been gaming on a TV so far, so it's not likely going to be worse.
