I have tried to get my granddaughters PS4 repaired it would not start. I sent it to Shahyar Shafiei
Advanced Electronic2000LTD
And he informed me unfortunately faulty "APU" chip is causing the problem ,unfortunately it is very time consuming and not wort fixing , (his words)
I will get it returned to and see what alternatives I have is it worth getting repaired or do I just take out hdd and memory to use in something else?
The hdd wouldn't show any content I'm guessing and would have to formatted?

From Wiki - "The main APU (2013 release) had a die size of 19 by 18.3 mm (0.75 by 0.72 in), with GPUs, CPUs and memory controllers on the same die.^[30] 2013 release version APUs contained 20 GCN compute units on die,^[31] two of which are thought to be present to provide redundancy to improve manufacturing yield.^[32] CPUs plus CPU caches make up approximately 15% of the chip area, and the GPU compute units take up approximately 33% of the 348 mm² (0.539 sq in) die area."

So yeah, if Shahyar is correct in the fault, its an expensive looking job to do.

You can't 'fix' an APU, only replace it and the motherboard it's on. Normally you would take this to Sony to fix not a third-party, but can understand if you don't want to pay their costs as it's usually high enough to just buy another brand new. You could try warranty under CGA if it hasn't been long since you bought, but after the default 1 year warranty they give.

You can't take out the memory, but you can with the HDD. If you use Windows it won't show anything as its formatted for ps4 OS (*nix).

Probably cheaper/cost effective to replace the PS4.
