I'm keen on getting an additional controller for our PS4 Pro, but want to spend as little as possible - we've already got two original controllers, but there are some games that allow for three players I'd like to be able to play with my boys, so it's only for occasional use.

I've seen some of the cheapest ones don't even have all functions (eg, the touch pad), so I'd like to avoid these.

Has anyone experience with knock-off controllers purchased from Ali Express or eBay (and also sold on TM etc)? Are there any you would recommend and/or to avoid?

Here's an example of the ones I've been looking at - it's amazing how they can sell a '100% official' controller for that price! (sarcasm...)

Thanks for any advice.

they have 0 feedback, they would take your money and run.

If you really want to save on a controller, I suggest you buy a second hand one.

Or flybuys etc... I got one for $40 using my flybuys points (didnt have enough to get it for free)

Sorry, that was simply an example of one at the kind of price point I'd seen, as opposed to that particular seller/auction. Would do due diligence on the actual seller if making a purchase.

Lots of items I've seen will include claims to be original/genuine, which I accept is rubbish. Doesn't always mean the product doesn't offer decent value for money though!

Check out the Black Friday deals. Mighty Ape has official controllers for $59

You won't necessarily get one for real cheap. They often skip the touchpad/gyro/3.5mm making some games un-playable if it uses the first two for control.

The official V2 controllers have come down (finally) and are quite good for less than $60-70.

Thanks for the replies.

Fair point that I could pick up a one for a good price on Black Friday (but the higher cost will be difficult to justify to my wife!) - I'll check out Mighty Ape when their sale starts (not a Primate member so can't see sale pricing).

Currently, the cheapest I can find one for new is $74 at Harvey Norman (but that may be for a V1, as it's on clearance?).

@SpartanVXL - whereabouts can they be got for $60-70?

Cheers.

Apologies, they're not currently at that price although back in June Noel Leeming had them at $59 and JB Hi-Fi at $64 or so.

Currently the wired Nacon controller is the only one at $60 that fits the bill. I would see what this weekend brings however as NL is highly likely to bring the price down again.

Stick with the original dualshock controller.  You get what you pay for.

No problems! Yeah, we picked up our second controller when they were at that price, but that has been the one and only time thus far they’ve come down to that level. Will keep a watch out, as even if I did buy from eBay it’ll be weeks until it arrives.

$59 at JB HiFi, so probably the best option.

Thanks for the advice!
