Does anyone know if this model is released here? Sony have released this new quiet model without much fanfare. Thanks

Can't confirm for other stores (might still have old stock) but I bought a PS4 Pro from MightyApe last month and the model number was CUH-7202B
hah, fan-fare. No pun intended I assume :)
Pretty sure when new stock will be refreshed from suppliers it will be this model. You'll have to wait for stores to run out their current stock, of which they'll be in no hurry since there's no other discernable difference to the console models.
Thanks for the update am keeping an eye on Mighty Ape who are currently out of stock. Shall wander in to JB Hi-FI and check them out too
From what I've heard, only the RDR2 Console Bundles were shipping those models, however as above, retailer stock refreshes will probably end up spreading that model in the coming months.
Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.
I bought one from EB Games Hornby on Black Friday weekend. I haven't looked at the model number, but it definitely has the figure 8 power cable (which is apparently one of the changes). I'll check the model number when I get home.
This wasn't part of a RDR2 bundle.
quiet model means throttled performance? unless there's some fundamental design change to cooling without using fans ... you will have to throttle the heat generation
The cooling fan was switched from Delta to Nidec some models ago. This noticeably reduces noise at high loads, as anyone who has worked with Delta fans can attest. This switch was done after the first run of PS4 Pro back in the beginning of 2017.
Otherwise they are same specifications. No change to performance.

According to Wikipedia they've changed the fans again, resulting in quieter (but hotter) console.
From Wikipedia:
In late 2018, a new PS4 Pro with the model number CUH-7200 model was released. This model is known to have quieter cooling fans than the previous two models of the PS4 Pro, recording 48 decibels at its loudest compared to the 55 decibels that the original PS4 Pro recorded. As a result of this, however, this new model is known to run hotter with the "the original one being the coolest", according to Gadgets 360. This model also uses a power cable "similar to" the one used with the PS4 Slim, Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles instead of the standard power cable used by the original PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro consoles, as well as the PS3. So far, this console model is only known to be included as part of a bundle including the game Red Dead Redemption 2.
I forgot to check the model number of my new one last night. I was sure it had the figure 8 power cable, but now I'm questioning my memory because I definitely didn't get the RDR2 bundle. Also, I thought the original (not slim) PS4 I bought it to replace also had a figure 8 cable - but according to the above from Wikipedia it wouldn't have.

Huh, I could swear that my original PS4 has a figure 8 cable....I will have to check when I get home now....
Edit: I should mention out as in on Amazon, not here in NZ. If it's not available now then NZ will get stock in the new year, maybe Feb.
Original PS4 def used two-pin figure eight. Maybe the first ever batch used a kettle plug, but the thing is too small to have that so i'm thinking it's unlikely and that Wikipedia is incorrect.
The reason the Pro's are hot is because more than likely it doesn't have good contact with the heatsink. It's why the original fans went into jet engine mode to try and cool them. The quieter fans are adequate enough, they just need to actually be dissipating heat rather than pushing lukewarm air because the heatsink isn't doing it's job.
The reason people recommend to follow the ifixit guide and repaste the pro is to make sure its contacting correctly. More heat drawn away means the less the fan will get kicked into overdrive because the cpu sensor is overheating.
The CUH-71xx series also has Nidec fans and is quieter, this came out around the end of 2017.
It was bugging me, so I popped home and checked.
My new PS4 Pro has figure 8 plug and is model number CUH-7202B. Purchased from EB Games as a bundle with Spider-Man (for $499 which I thought was pretty damn good). No special Spider-Man box or anything, and it is just the regular black console (and they just grabbed the Spider-Man game off the shelf). So I don't know whether this console was set aside for just the Spider-Man deal, I would guess not.
My original (non-slim) PS4 also has a figure 8 cable and is model number CUH-1002A. I think I got this pretty close to when the PS4 was first released.
That's a great price for the PRO and spiderman - can you still get the deal?
polglase:Check around boxing day or christmas/new years. That's a great price for the PRO and spiderman - can you still get the deal?
Warning, you won't be the only one after the deal. Better be quick.

Doesn't look like it that I can see.
EDIT: Also don't rely on PriceSpy as your only source of pricing when looking for deals. I'm pretty sure this deal didn't show up on it - I only found it by searching the EB website.

Not really, electronics naturally become more efficient over time as the parts can be produced on smaller nodes - we see this all the time - compare a PS4 now to it's base, the version now is quieter and uses less electricity to run, yet the performance is exactly the same
