Hi i bought a Blue Orb II for AM2 on trademe and after installing it the temperatures are not mind blowing low but I wanted to know what you guys think about this temperatures, idle core-1 18C core-2 19C on full load core-1 30C core-2 31C are this good temperatures?cheers,

Really, great to hear that. well I'm running a AMD64 4200+ Dual Core is this still good temperatures for this CPU, i play CSS with all the settings to the highest with 1600x1200 online for two hours and had my norton full scan running in the background and temperatures where core1 30 core2 31 and idle core1 18 core2 19 in a heated house, when i check temps this morning before turning heater on idle core1 15 core2 16. what you reckon.

Well if you look at it this way, most computers idle between 28'C and 45'C, depending on CPU/Cooler. Most are low thirties. My Intel e8500 idles at 30'C with no overclock with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. I don't know how cool a 4200 usually is, but that seems very good on average.

So it looks like you've got good thermal paste, which i did a bad job of.

I believe the temp difference between the CPU and ambient would give a much better indication regarding the cooling efficiency of the system, than CPU temp readings alone.

A system running idle at 30 deg might not look as good as one running idle at 25 deg. What if the first one is in a room heated at 26 deg, and the second one in a room at 19 deg? Which one has better cooling? The first one, right? Simply because it runs at 4 deg above ambient, and the second runs at 6 deg above ambient.

That's what I think...

Well it depends on servle factors What CPU you are cooling? also as mentioned above i show my different readings considering different room temps. my room temperature thermometer reads 16C and my CPU Core 1- 19C and Core 2- 20C idle and on full load reads Core 1- 25 Core 2- 26 at night when i have the heater crack up to full blast inside temperature 20C my CPU Core 1-24 Core 2-25 on idle and Core 1- 30 Core 2- 31 full load.
I hope that makes it clear that i have checked not only cpu and case temps but different room or ambient temps considered. did you guys still reckon this cooling solution is aceptable for an air cooled system?cheers
also HardDrive running at 22C when room temps at 17C

I also notice that ram and motherboard temps drop since installed this cooler
