Consumer appetite for digital content and experiences are stronger today than ever before. Gaming and technology have changed quite a bit since the first Xbox debuted in 2001. During this time, we’ve seen a digital transformation across gaming, music, TV and movies. And closer to home, the success of Xbox Game Pass, which gives members access to over 100 great games, is just another example of how consumers today have grown to expect great digital content. The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition was created for those who prefer to find and play their games digitally and are looking for the most affordable way to play Xbox games.

The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition comes bundled with three of our most compelling and popular games – Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3 and Sea of Thieves. These critically acclaimed titles are sure to offer something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Those new players joining us can get a head start on their digital collections and discover their next favourite game through Xbox Game Pass. If you haven’t tried Xbox Game Pass yet, the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition comes with a special offer to get started with access to over 100 great games, and with new games being added all the time there will always be something new to queue in your digital library. Cord cutters will enjoy watching 4K HDR entertainment with Netflix, Amazon and more, and thousands of Xbox One games are available from the Microsoft Store digitally.

The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will be available at select retailers worldwide beginning May 7, 2019, arriving in New Zealand later this year. We hope to share more details on local availability and pricing in the coming weeks.

Nice.  Might have to grab this to replay a few of my Xbox exclusives that are sitting on my Live account :)  Hope it's got decent storage though, or is user upgradeable

Dont really see the point with minimal $ saving, no space saving and 3 games that gamepass have in anycase.

If they had used the space freed up to let us put a giant spinning rust drive, and had ability for a SSD as well or something then perhaps, but this is just losing the disc slot for the cost of one game basically, eliminating the use of clearance titles on physical.

Try again microsoft.

Can't make that call yet since pricing isn't announced.

Maybe the thinking at MS is with the little money people do save they can put towards that $15-20 towards Game Pass Ultimate.

With xbox titles slowly becoming available on Windows 10 and the fact that zen2 and by extension next gen consoles are around the corner, theres little incentive to go for this model when the regular xbox ones are still floating around for decent prices.

I liked the idea of 4k blurays on the Xbox One S but then found I never used them.  All the ones I saw cheap at the Warehouse failed that real or fake 4K site check.

Bottom line, yeah I could live without the physical media drive, but I do have a bunch of physical disk games laying around.  Interesting move though to go all digital though.

Just read an article about the US pricing.......   $249 USD gets you the above. Or one with an optical drive. Same price.

MS need to make the price lower to reflect the lack of a drive, or offer something else with it.........

Or get the same deal with drive for a few dollars more - https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/GAMMST14014/Microsoft-XBOX-ONE-S-1TB-Console---Fortnite-Bundle

I'd stick with a physical drive, can pick up some great games for a few bucks at EB etc on sales whereas digital ones will remain relatively static.

Main advantage with digital copies, for me at least, is the ability to play some of them on the PC - I purchased Forza online and play it primarily on my PC.

The current digital only console price is RRP so you can expect another $30 to $40 discount in retail shortly which would make it around $70 to $80 cheaper over physical disc.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Will stick to physical drives if $399 is the launch pricing here, shame they didn't add an incentive like a 2TB drive instead.
