Just wondering if there are many people out there looking at buying Spore at launch?

I bought the Creature Creator and that was ok.
I will look at buying this as its been hyped up for awhile and looks like something new!

Check out the E3 Trailer here.

There is more to Spore than what Creature Creator has/is... I will be looking at getting the Galactic edition.

Would be pretty boring if it was just the Creature Creator... ;)

Whats the galactic edition? Is it better than a non-galactic, intra-solar edition?

spore does look cool, and, most importantly, they will release a mac edition...

:-)

cheers
Greg

Yeah, it's a great game. I got the Galactic Edition from Gameplanet too, which came with a making of DVD, a book, a nice box and a T-shirt.

So far, I'm only up to the City stage, but I was busy IRL yesterday. :P

I placed the order on Thursday and was shipped to me that afternoon and arrived on Friday morning... but I've been away to Wellington for Mods' Meeting and only unpacked it lastnight and not even have it installed yet.

I really wanted to enjoy this game but so far I'm disappointed.
The game just rushes you through to the end too fast.  We're not all in a hurry Will!

Feeedback from current Spore owners?
Do I spend $90 on Spore or do I save my money for a PS3 game instead?

I was very disappointed.  Way too easy to play, too dumbed down.  Wasnt really any strategy involved.  Started making my own buildings / vehicles but got sick of that real quick :p.  The space stage is sorta interesting but havent played it extensively as of yet..

I just installed it lastnight and find it quite entertaining... just like SimCity where you don't need to be storming your brain to play... I see it as a nice easy and relaxing game in between WoW and Civ4 that I do play on PC.

It is easy, but not so much dumbdown-sense, the interface is very easy and quite open... the hard part is to design your own creatures and the constrain of limited DNA points to spend...

If you like Will Wright's games, then I think it is no question and without a doubt it's a must. I grew up with SimCity and I have been waited for Spore (or Will Wright's game)...

I have Spore. Got bored of it within an hour! =/

Oh, and their rather restrictive DRM is disgusting. :(

Hehe yeah i read about the DRM...only allowed to activate it 3 times then you have to call EA and explain why youre activating it so much, then they accuse you of being a pirate. Whereas the pirates are actually able to install and play the game without any of that hassle. So I think the way to do it is, purchase legit copy, but install dodgy copy. Not that any of you would ever do that sort of dodgy thing Innocent

Lol um I saw the DRM to. DRM does not:
Help consumers
Help makers
Help publishers
Help retailers
or
Help anyone

DRM does:
Hurt consumers
Hurt makers
Hurt publishers
Hurt retailers
and
Hurts everyone

Basicly if theyre gona do that then i dont want to play EA's pathetic games. I wont be able to take advantage of there registered game content that comes with every leggally purchased game. So why pay for something i cant use. If theyre gona hurt everyone, I say we do hurting of our own. So say others. DRM does not stop, slow, harm, hinder or agitate piraters in anyway. DRM is pointless. DRM just decreases there sales.

I do not know if many of you have heard of this but, the spore game was allready pirated, cracked (removing all there flashest anti-piracy stuff) and seeded on a torrent site severall hours before it was released by EA games. They have since anounced that there next game to be released will have less strict DRM policys. This was undoubtably in response to there low sales and high piracy rate + the game being leaked. But I doubt it will do them much good. Anyways there are quiet a few major ongoing storys hapening that relate to drm.

Anyways at the end i can see drm going.
