Specs:

i5 8600k (not overclocked)

gigabyte 1060 windforce oc 6gb

550w psu

16gb ram

got the game a few months ago, started off fine but after a few weeks into it the game kept of crashing my pc. Now the crash is much more frequent, would crash mid game, loading screen into warzone, or when on the home screen for COD. Have run a few benchmarks for the cpu and gpu, both temps are fine and running benchmarks use to cause the pc to crash too but have undervolted the cpu and it has stopped but Warzone still causes crashes. Have tried re applying thermal paste to cpu, and resit all the components, changing in game graphics settings, prioritising the game to high, reinstalling gpu driver and nothing has given me a long term solution (game playable for a bit the crashes occur again).

Note: when on task manager with the COD game open, it would use up to 40-80% of the cpu (not sure if this is normal).

I'd be looking at reinstalling Windows just to eliminate it being a software issue. If still crashes, then either hardware related or really dodgy coding.

The latest drivers installed I take it?

Yes, all drivers up to date. Reinstalling windows means I need to download all programs again?

Update: have done a clean install of the graphics driver and now a clean install of windows 10. Crashes are still happening, can I assume now that it may be a hardware issue? I have previous taken the comp to a computer guy and he said that hardware was fine.

Check the PSU..... friend has just started having random crashes etc, swapped out the PSU and everything stable again.

Thanks, will try that. Crashes only happened in games but then it recently happened when I was watching youtube (only happened once). Running a RAM stress test now then a CPU and GFX stress test then will try switch the psu out

Nothing reporting in event viewer? have you run a test with memtest on your RAM? Have you tested/recorded the temps while gaming for the GPU and CPU? what brand PSU is it? how old? does this happen in any other game?

It most likely is either the GPU or PSU more likely PSU

Just says pc unexpected shutdown in event viewer. Running Memtest86 now and then doing Prime95 CPU Stress test after. GPU usually only around 70 max when gaming and it will crash\, cpu was around 70-80 from what I remember. Whole PC setup is only about 2 years old. COD (warzone, multiplayer and campaign all cause crash/reboot), genshin impact (online rpg) and also CS GO. This crash/reboot only started a few months ago.

My mate ran all those and had no issues - soon as it was full system load in a game, is when it died on him - drove him nuts until he swapped the PSU.

Trying to run Warzone in Windows 10 safe mode to rule out software issues in the comp but when I start up the game it says "The game couldn't start because your graphics processing unit microsoft render driver is not support"
I've just a clean install of windows 10 with only WZ installed and my computer still crashes when gaming. Is this enough to say its not a driver/software issue but a hardware issue?

Just finished up Prime95 (cpu), MemTest86 (ram) and Heaven & Valley Benchmarks (gpu) stress test and they were all fine, and temp was as expected too which is why I'm leaning towards what you guys are saying and it's a PSU problem

A cheaper PSU might be rated at 550watts but struggle to perform once it actually reaches anywhere close to that.

Quite common for issues like this to be the PSU and for it only to happen during gaming, because not many things other than gaming generate as much power draw.

Very short version is "PSU capacitors wear out as they get older and can't handle full/rated load"
