I just purchased an Xbox Series X, which comes with a slightly updated controller compared to the XBox One S/X.

I have a first gen Elite controller, and never upgraded to the Elite 2 because of the insane cost.

There's loads of comparisons between the Elite 2 and the new Series X/S controllers; but very little comparing original Elite gen 1 to the new Series X/S controllers. Do the new standard controllers have any advantages over the Elite gen 1, or is that still a better controller?

I have both the new XSX controller and the Gen 1 Elite. I prefer using the Gen 1 elite due to better grips and also the customizable button mapping specially in FPS games. Only benefit the new XSX controller has over Gen 1 elite is bluetooth so you can use it with mobiles phones or PC to play xcloud on the go or PC games wirelessly. I have a Xbox/Win10 RF USB transmitter key anyway plugged into my PC when I want to switch the Turtle Beach 700X Gen2 headset between XSX and PC for games or work conferencing so my Xbox controller also connects wirelessly this way or you can plug into PC via micro USB if using Gen 1 Elite or USB TypeC cable if using the new XSX controller.

Do whatever you want to do man.

We dont have an Elite controller but I do like the new Xbox Series controller, its got a nice grip.

My kids (who play a lot of X-box) have complained about the top bumpers (above the triggers).

I'll never use it for anything other than playing Xbox, so no bluetooth makes no difference to me. The Elite 2 would be cool, but I can't bring myself to spend $270 on a controller when I already have the Elite 1.

Imo if you don't use the paddles and/or adjust the thumbsticks, there's no need to go for an elite V2. Not to mention that they're clearly not very well made, given i'm now about to be on my 3rd unit...
