Been ages since I played Diablo, so I'm thinking of giving Diablo III a go, especially since IV isn't expected any time soon.

Reading reddit and other forums I can't figure out if there's an XSX edition for it.

Basically, specific expansion packs aside, will it matter in terms of video quality if I get a per-owned Xbox One disk vs if I buy a digital download from MS Store on my XSX.

No, it will be exactly the same. The only difference you'll see are load times.

That thread left me really confused the first time I read it, and I'm still confused. For example, does the One X version run in 4K at all, or do you need the XSX version for 4K? And if One X version runs in 4K on One X, will it play 4K on XSX, or 1080p, as I understand from the thread.

@Kookoo there is no XSX version. It's a bug that it only runs 1080p on Series X, when it should be 4K like on the One X. Whether you get a used disc copy or a digital download, on Series X you will only get 1080p unless they release a fix. However, if they do release a fix it will apply to both disc and digital.

But this has been known about for 6 months now, and if they haven't release a fix by now I wouldn't hold my breath.
