Sony's PlayStation Portable range has a funky new addition - the PSP Go
- which was announced at the E3 Expo today.

Hrm, don't really like the design imo.

I think the design looks alright, the thing that annoys me is the price, $250US which probably means it'll cost us over $400, pretty much a $100 increase from the PSP-3000. The whole removal of UMD for digital is pretty sweet though and supposedly 16Gb Memory will be standard, this would be great for storing heaps of games, movies, music etc.

The PSP-3000 won't be discontinued so you don't have to buy this new model.

i cant see the point?? whats new ? screen size looks the same, no touch screen... the addtion of bluetooth is great hopefully meaning it could be used as a remote control for ps3... but lack of touch screen for web browsing and its price is a "no" for me. looks like i'm back to logitech harmony "one" or the 1100

Yeah, touchscreen would've been nice. Also adding a built in camera would've been pretty good too.
I don't like the design, bit too bulky looking for me.

Bulky-looking? It's 40% lighter and a lot smaller than the current PSP models.
Two things I don't understand though is how will you play games already on UMD and how many games will be available to download over the Playstation store because they obviously can't put every UMD game onto the PS store to download can they!?

That would be a hell of a lot of games to put on there, probably more than quadruple
the stuff it currently has on there now O_o
I guess they could slowly put more and more games on there but we'll most likely fall far behind the American PS Store like we are now.

The Good..

No UMD - Great :) never used my UMD drive anyway..
Blue Tooth - Sweet.. !! finally !! should have had that from day 1
16GB onboad flash memory - nice i guess

The Bad

NO Touch screen - ???? they made a stuff up with this one... I hate using my PSP to go online / surf.. They need touch screen to make this device more usable.. not just for gaming..

Single Thumb Joystick - They really really should have listened to people on this one.. alot of games are far more playable with 2 Thumb sticks... the keys suck for moving around..

No wireless N - No a real biggy.. but you would think a brand new product would come out with N.

All and all tho.. it looks like a nice step up from the 3000... But i think ill stick with my custom firmware 2000 for the time being..

I just heard the PSP Go has the exact same battery life as the current PSP's because the battery is alot smaller, which is ashame because I thought for sure removing the UMD drive would drastically increase it, one of the major cons of the current ones. I think i'll purchase a 1000 or 2000 custom, just for the Great catalog of PS1 titles and Gran Turismo, of course :)

Hi xturtlex,

The new version of psp is not that bad. Looks stylish but the price is way too high from the previous one. I will stick to the previous one on this.
