Hey Guys,

So I've finally got a PS3 and I'm loving it. (Thanks to tonie for being the first to spot the JB HiFi deal!) They insisted the bundled game had to be Assassin's Creed, so I also got a preowned GT5 prologue for $44. (Did anyone have any luck getting a different game?)

Here's my question: What game shows off the PS3 graphics best?

It doesn't have to be anything new or expensive, just scenes that make you go "Woah...that looks so good!".

The Eiger racetrack on GT5P is my best so far, with the mountains in the background. It made me want to stop at the side of the road and eat my picnic on a tartan rug - I'm such an Englishman...

I'm a fan the MOTORSTORM PACIFIC RIFT graphics.
The cars are nice and shiny, dust kicked up by the wheels looks great and the water splashing against the screen creates a awesome distorted/underwater effect.

If you are into racing games, I'd hire Motorstorm (Pacific Rift) to try it out - I got it with my (fatty) PS3 back last November when they were on sale. Not sure if it has a demo on Playstation Store - make sure its Pacific Rift and not the Original Motorstorm.

WIPEOUT HD is another racing game with great graphics too. You can download the demo from the Playstation Store.
Great looking tracks, although sometimes they can seem a bit too 'shiny' - download the demo and judge for yourself!

I also have GT5:Prologue and I agree - the Eiger racetrack is my favourite!

Just my opinion... :)

I quite like Unchartered. That was a cool game, and can't wait for the sequal, even though I don't have a PS3!

in a strictly "high end graphics" point of view - GT5 prologue is by far the best. IMO :)

+1. Nothing else is even close.

Otherwise, other really good ones VISUALLY I have are:

Formula 1
Sega Rally
Ridge Racer (though the style is not for everyone)

Oh, and I know you didn't ask this but one game I was really suprised at was Bladestorm: Hundred Years War.  Graphics aren't anywhere near GT5P, but there is a free demo on the PSN and I had many hours of fun with that game.

I'd have to recommend Burnout Paradise! its has some nice graphics, and since its a full world map (meaning its seamless driving around the whole game) makes it nice too.

i run it at 1080i, as its not a 1080p game, but at anyrate, it looks fantastic on my Bravia 46" FullHD LCD panel. :)

Most of these are racing games: Are there some others worth looking at?

(Thanks adamal for the tip on Uncharted)

although i havent seen it for myself yet apparently Dead Space is quite a nice looking game and also said to be quite hard and scary. im looking to buy it on payday, along with some others from bond&bond as they have this and quite a few others going for 39.99! - online only but they can deliver it to the store of your choice or $6 courier.

The most impressive game graphics wise ive owned was Uncharted Drakes Fortune and the second one comming out looks even better.

not having seen wipeout hd or dead space i'd rate the following as such..
GT5P = 9/10 - benchmark !
COD4= 6/10
DrakeUncharted= 6/10
Oblivion ElderScrollsIV=4/10
MetalGearSold4 = 7/10
killing zone2 = 7/10
Warhawk = 6/10
Strictly graphics rating not gameplay - if it was game play - warhawk would be 9/10 :)

Drake Uncharted looks fantastic , if you ever played the crash bandicoot series on PS1 and were amazed how good it looked, its the same company, Naughty Dog, and they dont disappoint on the PS3

Common sense is not as common as you think.
