Well completely pulled apart my Killzone edition 80gb PS3 with the thought of attaching the SATA cable inside then externally to a 500gb 3.5" SATA drive which would sit next to the PS3.

However they have changed the internals and its not a simple case of unscrew cover, slide drive cage to the right and then hook the cable to the internal SATA clip.

The drives now mount vertically and you pull the drive cage straight out,not to the right to disengage.
The SATA connection has also been changed so that a SATA cable which is female, will not clip on.
They have made a special adapter which is in between the drive and the mainboard which has a female connection.

Just thought I would share this for anyone considering doing it.

Here is an older video someone made of doing it the old way which you cant do now.
