Earlier on in the week i changed my broadband plan from Telecom's Pro plan to their Big Time plan.
Ever since making this change i have had this issue connecting to MW2.
This is really Effin' me off

I have tried connecting wirelessly, reseting modem, changing modem (from Thomson - D-Link).
All to no avail.

I know the most obvious thing to do is to change back to Pro Plan but can't afford it.

Any ideas?

Are Telecoms broadband plans the best priced/value for money out there? Thinking of switching to Telstra.

Any thoughts?

Yes few users on big time have complained of waiting up to 30 minutes for mw2 to fetch the server's list. There is really no fix to this problem on big time.

Do whatever you want to do man.

What exactly is it doing when it is 'fetching servers?'.
If i can connect to PSN with no problems, why does this take so long to process?
Have rung Smellycom to change my broadband plan back to Pro.
Will post whether this fixes the problem or not.

It downloads the server lists file. Problem is that MW2 is p2p so it's you and me hosting games from our internet connection rather than a dedicated server. Big time plan is managed/throttled where it slows down those users who are downloading a file over someone who is just browsing trade me.

there is a telecom employee on geekzone who said that problem with big time and mw2 cannot be fixed because admins @ telecom would not know which IP's to grant access to download the mw2 server list at full speed because IP's at home connection change all the time. If mw2 had dedicated servers, they would have had also dedicated IP's for them which telecom could have easily added to their exclusion IP list.

If you use more than 20GB nothing is as cost effective per GB as Big Time.

However, you have to live with the drawbacks of the traffic management that affect international traffic.

I would not recommend Big Time if you play a lot of MW2, basically MW2 doesn't have any dedicated servers it's all match making via the central servers in the US. Any game you can play on NZ or AU dedicated servers is generally fine on Big Time (eg: Left 4 Dead 2).

Are you playing MW2 on PC or console? because i am on the Big Time plan and have been playing MW2 on both PC and Xbox 360 and PC is fine and so is Xbox 360 most of the time apart from some lag issues at peak times but most of the time it is not a problem either
