Does anyone know what is happening at Gamesman.co.nz? Site has been 'offline for maintenance' over the last 3 days, seems like an awefull lot of maintenance required.

I was wondering the same thing myself - a bit concerning as I recently placed my StarCraft 2 pre-order through them (and was billed for the priveledge!).

I might try to contact them via landline today to find out what's going on.  If I get any info I'll post in here.

Was unable to find a phone number for them - so I sent an email to sales@gamesman.co.nz and also sent a question to ebgames through their website.

No feedback thus far ...

Gamesman is effectively EBGames, your pre-orders should be pretty safe. Gamesman stores have been slowly converted over to EBGames over the last couple of years or so...

The website might be the last/latest conversion over to EBGames?

Nope they stated they were keeping the brand, would have expected some kind of announcement forst and also a redirect to the EB Games site.

i thought when they first sold Gamesman shops to EB, they said they would keep the brand and website.  so pre-orders through the website would have nothing to do with EB i assume?
hey not go get any of your guys worried, just express what i think  Smile

This was my understanding too.  I had some email correspondence with someone who worked at Gamesman.co.nz recently, so if anyone wants the email address please PM me.

OK, so after sending about a dozen emails - all of which were ignored - I tracked down the phone number for the EBGames head office in AU and gave them a call.

Apparently the gamesman.co.nz website is offline 'indefinitely pending review' (whatever that means).  I asked about pre-orders, and they said they had 'someone in New Zealand handling that.'  Yeah, well, not very well then.

They eventually gave me the email address of someone to contact regarding my existing pre-orders.  I've emailed them, but have not heard back thus far (and am not holding my breath).

This whole thing strikes me as a bit on the nose.  They take my money for a pre-order and then refuse to answer my emails asking what's going on!

I'll let you know if I hear back from them.  But it seems Gamesman.co.nz may well be disappearing, and if you have any pre-orders I would recommend calling the AU head office as thus far it's been the only way to get any feedback about what's going on.

There are three The Gamesman branches in NZ, in Auckland, Wellington and Lower Hutt.

Why don't you try giving one of them a ring.

Auckland: (09) 573-5349
Wellington: (04) 473-7844
Lower Hutt: (04) 570-2744

I just finished ringing the wellington number and was told the Admin of the site Shane i think was getting things sorted with the "techie" since there was a major problem with the site.

As far as current preorders he wasn't sure but will be ringing back today or tomorrow hopefully with some info.
