As title says.

I (and my friend - both received the "ban") was having some fun on BC2 on XBOX360  over the weekend teaming up with a friend.
Playing various maps, we were sick of being constantly spawn raped by choppers. So we started sniping the pilots out as they would approach on their strafing run. Over the course of a couple of hours, we probably sniped a dozen pilots or so each. Then we were both kicked from the game and had emails from DiCE sating we were "ruining other users enjoyment of the game" and handed a 7 day ban from playing online on BC2 servers.

My friend received a warning about sniping pilots about 2 months ago.

I think this is BS, but I can't do anything about it. If they don't want it to be possible they should patch the game.

Does anyone else do this? What is everyone elses thoughts?

Seems pretty off to me, its not like you were running any form of hack or exploiting a bug in the game as such (maybe an oversight if anything) - Id email DICE and complain.

If it is anything like the PC version they do NOT want you to be a sniper* and sit and kill people all day.

The idea was to move away from High KDR and spawn campers and balance it out to being more team orientated by requiring the adjusting to different classes all the time based on the scenario... spot a target, take out a tank, use explosives, fix a mates one etc

And it probably keeps an eye on anyone being the scout class for too long a timeframe, or obtaining a high KDR while being it.

*the PC version it is actually a "scout". It wasn't designed for players to get awesome KDRs by hiding miles away and just taking people out. It has multiple roles, like spotting targets and laying explosives etc hence no proning.

Yeah I agree getting kicked for killing them before they could get close enough for them to kill you with their superior firepower is a bit lame. I would certainly complain (if i played online and played this game and it was me hehe).

My KD ratio is 0.90 overall, 1.1 as Sniper. I'm not a "Bush wookie" as a sniper  - I often use a shotgun and hide in the bushes close to an MCOM. I have more gold stars with LMG and Assault rifles than snipers - same with my mate.

Also, for most of the match my mate and I were medics/assault. We only switched to sniper or pickd up a sniper kit when the choppers came out.
Oh, and by the way, we still got owned by the choppers while trying to pick off the pilots. I think in the 6 or 7 matches we played I only once got a positive KD ratio.

I do know what your saying tho. I make it my specialty taking tags from Bush wookies (236 so far and counting!!)

Thats the lamest thing ive heard in years, what the hell is wrong with Dice.  So if your good at sniping others and they complain you can get a banning. Yeah your ruining the enjoyment of noobs who can't play so go cry about it to dice.

Well, I've played two BFBC2 Multiplayer games, and spent the whole time staring at the dirt, dead, so I'm no authority.

However, in my opinion you've used game mechanics that are plausible in "real life" and have found a way to take out a helicopter with a single .303 round.

You are my hero, and I'd say someone has complained about you? Accused of hacking maybe?

Surely DiCE wouldn't punish you for their own oversight?

I'd kick up a stink, considering they have relieved you of your purchase. Imagine if there is a game patch dedicated to you!

I nearly felt sorry for you until I read you were playing an FPS on a console.

I was playing BC2 (Conquest mode) on 360 couple of days ago and I joined a session half way where my team was cornered at base camp and opponents were spawn raping with apache, UAV, tanks etc. Annoying to say the least.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Well I'm back playing BC2 again.
Sent an email to MS who are going to look into it.

As for playing on a console - it's cheaper than upgrading my PC every year to cope. Plus my PC is a HTPC, so not ideal for games. Still play a bit of CS: Source tho!

I have pre-ordered Black Ops and MoH already. I like the campaign on Call of Duty series, but BF is better MP

Oh, and just for fun, sniped the pilot in a Hind on Isla Inocents and got 4 kills - 2 from the chopper crushing the guys it landed on!

I'll be banned soon no doubt...

That's crazy. I used to play this a fair bit but one of my last games was that long desert one with a chopper at each end. There were two guys on the other team who jumped in their chopper and laid waste to our team for the entire game. They kept destroying our chopper and any anti-air guns before anyone could get to them.

We played a very frustrating two games in a row where this guy destroyed us. If you'd been there and sniped the guy out of the air I would have written to DICE and recommended that they give you some kind of award! I spent my entire time trying to bring him down with no result. Destroyed the game for everyone on my team.

In your case, I wonder if some people on the other team were mates and had got together to vote you out of the game or report you in some way.

Thing is, it's really hard to do. It takes practice and good judgement. it's not something that you just look thru the scope and fire - you have to allow for flight time, lag, angle of the chopper, chopper's expected flight path etc. It sometimes takes a few shots to do it. And you can only do it with the M95 or M24 and magnum rounds as nothing else is powerful enough.
If they hover right above you it is possible to shoot them thru the floor with a shotgun with solid rounds and magnum upgrade Wink

I say every one should practice it - see if they ban us all!
