Sennheiser HD201 -http://www.noelleeming.co.nz/audio-mp3/portable-audio-mp3/headphones/sennheiser-hd201-headphone/prod...

I find them fantastic - long cord though can be a bit of a pain if you are on the move - they are 3m long

Microsoft Lifechat is nice.

Phones and mic all in one usb connection, with volume and mute on a little "remote" attached about 300mm down the cord.
They're only about $50 and available everywhere.

I use them because when my kids chew the foam out of the earcups I'm not crying over a Razer headset or something.

Not quite under the $60 mark, but this might be what you are looking for. I snapped everything from cheap $20 Warehouse earphones to $250 ones... then got these,

I use this (Logitech clear chat pro), I like it, well over the $60 mark though, maybe try pricespy or a sale...

I posed this question to the lads on a my 'local' gaming forum (bigdgaming.net), and almost everyone gave me the same advice.

I ordered them from computer lounge the other day, and I'm waiting impatiently...

Headphones: Plantronics GameCom Headphones (777, or 367, or 377). I bought the 367 for $69 from Computer Lounge.

The thread I'm referring to: http://www.bigdgaming.net/showthread.php?t=8894

A youtube review showing, among other things, the very cool mic hidey hole :): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUm-lcW7-b0
