hey guys, i have looked all day to try and lan black ops.
i own a retail copy etc etc. but looks like i might have to source it illegally because i cannot lan.
i have tried backing up the game, and double logging into steam in offline mode, to play black ops. then joined the lan , and i cannot play.

anyone know how to get black ops to lan on pc? thanks

I started a "private match" with some mates and we were all connected through the house's wireless network and ingame our pings were around 20, compared to when I play alone online which is 130 (our internet is CRAP!) so I believe it detected that we were all playing on the same network so it did it through lan. But we had to be on the internet to use steam.

yea, we are having a black ops tournament, the sad thing is, there is no internet available at the location. so somehow we need this to work :S
when in offline mode, i can get multiple pcs to show black ops and load it fine. but i cannot click play, it says you need internet.

im starting to hate this game...

ok the internet is sorted with a 40m lan cable :S

to lan black ops, do we need all computers online and have steam in online mode?
or can we multi log in , with offline mode, and just have one pc online in steam.

black ops tourney will cost a lot, if we need 20 retail versions of the game and internet on all pcs....

Congrats on finding a 40m one!

I believe you would need internet access for all pcs, they just need to be connected. And I have never tried multi log in, sounds interesting but I sadly doubt it.
