Can some tell me what kind of GPU load and temps you're all getting from this game?

When I'm just playing the normal BC's mp portion of the game my GTX460 is averaging around 50-90%GPU and the temp hovers around 75degrees.   But as I switch to Vietnam, the temp goes all the way up to high 90's.

The Vietnam addOn is more demanding. But 90°C is way too hot I'd say. What temps do you get with Furmark?

I have a GTX 460 MSI Cyclone. The cooler is really awesome. My temperature goes never above 65°C.

It's hitting 99C in Furmark!  In fact it now hits that exact temp no matter what games I play.  Good time to RMA or get something similar to yours that hasn't got a Single fan External Exhaust

Iv got BFBC2 Vietnam.
Im running 4870's in crossfire.
I havent noticed it to be any more demanding then the original. Infact i would think it was the opposite as there is less buildings all around you falling down / dust etc. Who knows though, just my observations.

Back to the main question. Iv got my GPU loads to 100% and the temps of my top card hits mid to high 80's. The lower card hovers around the high 60's.
Dosent bother me though as 4870's are known to be hot running cards. Proberbly not so relevant to you as you have a Geforce, but oh well Smile

Knew I should have joined the dark side and moved back to ATi...   er AMD i mean :)

I had considered a 6850, but after hearing so many good things about the 460 I just couldn't resist!

The EVGA card I have is meant to top out around 80C, the fact that I have a new case which has more than ample breathing room and fans galore, and it still clocks at 99C regardless of whatever games I play is a sure sign of a dud yeah.

Graphics cards are designed to handle running pretty hot but yeah sustained 90C will shorten the life of the card probably.

One cheap and easy thing to look at is improving case air flow, cleaning out dust adding a couple of quiet 120mm fans can help alot.

What sort of case do you have? Take a couple of pic's one with the side of the case off if you can.

Two things

Take the card out and clean out any dust

then

Install MSI Afterburner and create you own fan profile rather than using the default profile, ramp the fan speed up to 100% when the temp hits 70 degrees - it also is a very good for overclocking

IMO, if you're gaming then you don't hear the fan noise so 100% is fine, especially if you use headphones

Finally got my replacement GTX460!

BC2:Vietnam doesn't even get past 58C @ 50% fan speed now.

And even better, it's idling at around 29C not 45-50C like the faulty card that I had previously!

Smile
