Yea I bought the game a few months back at a lan. Played quite a bit for the first few weeks but haven't played much lately.

It's a cool game, but my gripe is that with the amount of money the games making, it could be a lot better. Mostly in terms of optimisation.

It's very simple graphically, yet needs a decent machine to run properly...

Notch has just updated the file storage format, I gave it a quick go last night for the first time in months and it seems to perform a lot better now. The old format was pretty inefficient, being made up of thousands of tiny files.

I was intrigued and purchased the game a few months ago after seeing one of SeaNanner's videos on YT. If anyone is wondering what Minecraft is, his videos are a good start.

I hardly play it at all now. At the time though, US$10 for a lifetime license was too good an offer to pass up!

my Son plays it and hosts a server for all his mates to join in they can spend hours on it, just word of mouth and he sold nearly a million copies at $10 , who needs big companies.

Had a bit of a dabble in Minecraft. Very addictive.
I agree with Kraven. A $10 lifetime license was just too good to pass up.

There is also a doco being made about it, which is being funded by Kickstarter.com

Direct Kickstarter/Minecraft doco link:

They are already about half way from their $150,000 funding goal.
A very big following!!

You should definitely watch the SeaNanners videos that Kraven linked to above.
I'm watching them now. They are friggen' hilarious, but also very informative.

I hate that noise specially when you are on the surface during the day.

I have found it runs way better on my iMac then it does in bootcamp. But it would be nice if it went away from being java I always have issues with java apps

+1 to that.

1.3_01 is giving me nothing but issues.
Anywhere between 1 minute to 10 minutes, and the javaw.exe process is up around the 900MB~ mark, and it seems that when it hits that magic 900MB mark it just crashes.
Having to get into the habit of saving very frequently now.

oh wow, such a fantastic litle game. I have wasted far to many hours digging up my empire. I am still on the original map I first spawned when I started -walked away from the spawn point and explored a huge area before finding a lovely lake side cave to make my home. Then when I died i had trouble find ing my way back to the lake house for ages, until the update with the compass -then discovered I was always walking 90 degrees the wrong way ha.

now I have a straight line tunnel running all the way from the spawn point to my house. Took me a long time to dig but got alot of ore from it. Am thinking of laying a railway through the entire length, but that would require a massive amount of iron and I have always found the whole 'light the fire then jump into the cart' thing hard to do.

Very successful game, however the creater did run into a bit of a problem selling over a million copies and using paypal for the transfer.

"The creator of MineCraft has run into a bit of a snag with PayPal, which has frozen his account with over $763,000 in it and refuses to let him touch it."
