So after attending a recent competition at my local Harvey Norman, decided getting into some online fps action would be good.

I have both an xbox 360 and  Pc, and have little preference about using either one.

But was wondering about the bandwidth usage, is there a significant difference between them?

I've never had XBL so don't know how hungry it can be, but I play a lot of mmorpgs on my Pc and it doesn't use up much bandwidth.

Any info would be really helpful.

in games such as COD MW2 or Black Ops it uses around 30mb an hour on the 360 with voice chat, tends to be about the same for COD MW on the pc. FPS need the quick connection but not the bandwith.

hey man, yea pc gaming is not too bad ae.

less ping = less bandwith used.
less talking = less bandwith used.
less players online in your game = less bandwith used.

xbox is ok too, but paying for live annoyed me , however for games, more people are on xbox....

COD = 10000 on pc at 10am yesterday
XBOX = something stupid like 1300000 players......
still like a million play MW2 on xbox, but on pc i cant find games until PEAK hours -.0

im a true pc gamer, always have been. but both systems have pros and cons :P

Er, ping has nothing to do with bandwidth. It doesn't matter what your ping is, you'll be using the same amount of bandwidth/traffic.

first week of black ops, servers were all about 300 ping on PC. i played for 2 hours and used 800mb of data.
now servers are around 90 ping and i use 40/50mb an hour.

counter strike source, play in usa for 1 hr (high ping) use around 120mb an hour. Play local, use about 40mb

killing floor, play with high ping and use around 70mb an hour, without high ping 40mb

im associating high ping with distances to host/server

just played now... one gun game in a US server on bops, used 19mb....

Like to be getting the most for my money, so just wanted make sure I would be efficiently using my Internet, seeing as I have a low cap (haven't need to raise it).

Guess the thing with xbox that put me off is all the added fees, like for gold membership an the subscription based online play which is to be introduced.

Oh really? I have a 5gb cap also. How much time are you able to spend playing?

depends on what game i play...
usually it lasts me 2 weeks then im capped, but i play all day (uni holidays)
i strongly suggest a 10gb plan if u game hard. 5gb is good for like 5 hrs gaming a day... i watch a bit of you tube and things tho.. heres a picture of last months usage !!!
