Hey,
I am wondering if i can play team fortress 2 offline?

I am downloading the steam version and am leaving for the UK next week. I am prepared to continue to download it but if i am unable to play it without an internet connection I may not...

It would be seriously boring, unless you were playing the tutorial!
I'm not sure if it works offline tho, coz steam will connect to check for updates.

I was aware that it was primarily an online game, however, I searched on Google and some people have suggested that it could work with Steam;s offline mode and bots would be able to be enabled.

It would be good if there was a "Bots" mode, kind of like Condition Zero. I don't much like playing against strangers online (I don't have a lot of time to play, and it always feels like I'm gatecrashing a party that's been going for ages), so my wife and I sometimes play head to head, but one-on-one isn't much fun. Much better if you can take charge of a set of bots each, and blast each other to pieces...

The game will run offline, but nothing to do in it. Id say the bots youve seen mentioned will be 3rd party and unsupported by Steam/Valve. CS used to be the same and they finally added bots into it.

I do wish there was some mode of offline game play. It would be nice to be able to play on my laptop while bored on the 2 x 12 hour flights =/.

I may download condition zero. I had it a year ago and I only played it online.....

Get FarCry or FarCry 2... they run single player... or any of the early half life...

Keep in mind that you'll be somewhat restricted in using a mouse, unless you have a very forgiving seat neighbour.
