When I try to follow the instructions on this site,

I was not able to sign up.

I follow everything on this site and manage to get connected.

However, when i try to surf the net, it gives me an error saying

DNS lookup timed out. Please check coverage, and try again. [Comm. 8]

I also try to ping www.yahoo.com
and it gives an error

Request timeout.
Error timeout (0x1212): time=0ms.

Are you sure you don't have things mixed up? I'll explain why I think this on a later post, but first answer this: did you try Geekzone or Whizzo first?

It's important to know because I see one different thing between these guides and the answer will help me to help you.

I tried geekzone first but cant get it to sign on... but i managed to get it to work whizzo. Is the difference in the script you are talking about?

Because the way I suggest is to enter nothing on the Palm. In general you don't have enter anything on the Bluetooth adapter either except by the IP address, but if you look in our article What to check if your Bluetooth LAN connection is not working you'll notice that if there are DNS errors then you can enter the DNS address there - but not on the Palm.

Anyway, since you're now connected, regarding the error DNS lookup timed out. Please check coverage, and try again. [Comm. 8] I assume you're getting this from Web Pro? If this is the case, open the configuration options and remove all proxy configuration you have there. Soft reset the Palm and try connecting again.

Didn't seem to work too even after i reset it.

This time i try to follow the script from geekzone and try to connect but it says

Host Does not exist. Please maek sure you entered the host name correctly, and try again [Comm. 11]

Seems like its nothing to do with Webpro as it shows Request Timeout when i try to ping it from the log.

Are you running a personal firewall (Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security, Sygate)?

Are the DNS server addresses configured in the Bluetooth network adapter? Is it configured as 192.168.0.1?

From your Palm are you able to ping 192.168.0.1?

From your Palm are you able to ping 209.202.221.21?

My zone alarm was turn off.

Bluetooth network adapter: IP address was set to 192.168.0.1
DNS server was left empty but when i enter 192.168.0.1, same thing happen.

I was able to ping 192.168.0.1 and 209.202.221.21.

Could it got to do with my router? but my router ip is 192.168.1.1

Nope, if you're able to ping 209.202.221.21 then your LAN connection is working fine. This is the address of Wired.

Let's fix the DNS problem then. The DNS server address is not 192.168.0.1. From a CMD window run IPCONFIG /ALL and find what's your ISP DNS server. These are the numbers to enter on the Bluetooth Adapter configuration.

Again, don't enter anything on your Palm!

And don't turn the Zone Alarm on until finished testing.

ok i have put the isp ip add on the bluetooth network adapter primary dns server but it didnt seems to work...

Now that you have this there, have you tried PING by name again? Have you rebooted your computer?

If it doesn't work, then I'd blame on Zone Alarm. Have a look on this thread, the message from 28/11/2003 12:45:54 and below.

Because the network is connected and functioning ok. The only thing you don't have is DNS resolution. You need this to make things like www.wired.com translate into the real address which is 209.202.221.21.

If your network is connected and you can ping by IP, then certainly the problem is DNS resolution. Either you don't have the correct address or something is blocking the access to these servers. Hence I asked you about the firewalls.

ok, i think it should not be my firewall in this case.
i have not turn it on for a long time. or do i need to uninstall it?

for the address

i have 2 network... 1 is local area network and 2 is bluetooth network adapter.
in the local area network, i have all checked to find ip address automatically.

in the bluetooth, ip add is 192.168.0.1
subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
gateway is left empty.
primary dns server is wot my isp add is

i am sure its gonna work, we are so close to it.

when you mention earlier that i should not touch the palm, what is it exactly that i should leave it alone? the query dns?
