Hi, looking for views/experiences of the Grandstream GWN7665 as it supports WiFi6E.

I have a GWN7664 so am familiar with the Grandstream ecosystem etc. I'm interested to know how the GWN7665 performs particularly with Wifi 6E. I'd be keeping the 7664 and replacing another AP for the other end of the house.

I don't have many devices on 2.4Ghz (just a printer and a couple of IoT devices) and I'd disable that on this AP and just keep the GWN7664 serving that frequency.

Yep I've used it and it works well if that's the main question. Their routers and switches are pretty good too. 6E requires WPA3 only (not compatible with WPA2) and to be honest unless if you've got a specific device need you likely don't need 6E just yet.

Just note - if you're using gwn.cloud adding a VLAN doesn't automatically add passthrough on the switch for that VLAN so needs to be manually done (currently) via the switch's web interface. It's an odd bug.

Thanks for the tip on 6E. I'll approach the config with that info, as I don't really have any needs for 6E currently.

I like the GWN APs and tend to replace with the latest, they have worked really well in two completely different houses.

Proops to goWifi for the quick overnight courier (although I did pay slightly extra!)

Sounds like they are using the same cloud technology as the Aruba Instant On, because that bug exists there also

Hey @nzkc, just letting you know the GWN7665 is fully POE only. No power adapter socket.

If I select 5 and 6Ghz, nothing to do with 6E currently, I can only select WPA3 security.

My Nintendo switch for example doesn't support WPA3.

Be mindful of existing devices, don't assume modern is going to support the auth protocol.

I assume that would be a 6GHz requirement, or the 6E one. Should be able to set up a separate SSID for your Wii (I do that for a couple of devices already).

I have a deployed an AP-635 same SSID across three bands and bandsteering works perfectly fine with WPA3

Yes for sure, it's the devices that don't support WPA3 forcing a split of the SSIDs.

It's OK thinking about it. Recreate the current wireless network config using the same SSID. Introduce a 5/6 WPA3 network (the only config GWN will support) for the really modern devices.

Reconfigured with two SSIDs.

Recreated the 2.4/5 network WPA2/WPA3 setup for my older devices

Setup a tri-band 2.4/5/6 WPA3 SSID. The only device in the house that supports Wifi6 is an iPhone15 Pro. That device doesn't connect to 6, it sticks on 5.

If I set the new SSID to solely 6, the iPhone doesn't even see the SSID.

I recently bought GWN7665 and I tested the speed using my S23 Ultra and I'm just getting 400+mbps down. I have 950/500 plan wired connection to my Topton minipc (N100) is 2.5G

I connected to only 6E SSID same as below but he is getting a higher speed.

Any idea why?

Firmware released that fixed the issue with no connection to the 6G band.

So many factors influencing the actual wifi speed. In reality, does it make a difference to your experience?

OK, so you got me testing as well! I was upstairs, iPhone 15 pro - SSID set to tri-band. The iPhone connected on 2.4g and I got 330Mbps

I moved to the same room where the Wifi AP is hidden behind a side drawer. iPhone connects to 6G channel 5 and fast.com indicates 1.1Gpbs.
