I am new to this, but see that I am not the only one to have problems.

I have read, as far as in me lies, all the guides that have been posted here. I acknowledge that I might have missed something, and would be really glad of some help.

I have a desktop PC that is on a wired network from a router. The router's IP is 192.168.2.1 and it is the DHCP server for the network. The PC's NIC obtains its IP from the router, and is allocated 192.168.2.2.

I have a BT dongle that identifies itself as a Silicon Wave BT device. It came with Blue Soleil software, but I have ditched that in favour of Widcomm drivers version 1.4.2.10.

My PDA is a PalmOne Tungsten T5, and I have established a pairing connection with the PC that enables me to HotSync etc.

However, whatever I seem to try does not allow me to get Internet Access.

When I make the connection it does establish, but when I try a web address I get a "Cannot connect . . " message.

I have entered the DNS server address 192.168.2.1 in the BT adapter configuration - it is set to obtain an IP automatically.

I have set the LAN NIC in the PC to do internet sharing.

All to no avail. When I check the log on the PDA after connecting it reads as follows:-

stevecarter: I have entered the DNS server address 192.168.2.1 in the BT adapter configuration - it is set to obtain an IP automatically.

The BT Adapter should always be 192.168.0.1 if you are using ICS. This is in all our guides.

Also, enter the DNS server address(es) on this BT adapter's configuration.

No script is needed on a T5 apparently.

Thanks for your response.

I forgot to say that I did try putting the 192.168.0.1 IP address in the BT adapter, and the appropriate subnet and set the DNS server to 192.168.2.1.

None of this made any difference. The connection establishes, but the logfile still reads as before.

I do not have a firewall in place.

When the connection has established and I try to access and web site, I get the "Cannot Find Requested Page . . . . " message.

Where to now?

I apologise if I am being a pain, but I would love to get my BT access to the internet sorted out.

Is there anything you, or anyone else, can suggest to help me with this?

Are you sure 192.168.2.1 is the correct DNS? It looks like your router. does it work as a DNS server? I recommend you use the ISP's DNS address instead.

Thanks for your reply. I tried what you suggested, but still get the same "Cannot find requested page" message.

Let me tell you the complete configuration.

I have a wired router which has an IP address of 192.168.2.1

It is set to act as DHCP supplier for a small network, and issues the address 192.168.2.2 to the PC which I am using to make the BT connection.

The LAN NIC in the PC is set to obtain IP address and DNS server address automatically.

The BT LAN adapter in the PC has its IP address set to 192.168.0.1 as per the guide with subnet mask at 225.225.225.0 and the DNS server addresses set to those of my ISP - 82.128.229.70 and 82.128.229.72. No default gateway is set.

Should it be the LAN NIC that is set to do the ICS sharing? If so, that will mean the LAN NIC will have its IP address set to 192.168.0.1 rather than the BT LAN adapter. Will that mean that connectivity is lost with the router?

I am getting a bit lost here - sorry.

The ICS is done from the LAN NIC facing the network to the Bluetooth virtual adapter.

The NIC facing the network should retain the current configuration, and the special address is to be used on the Bluetooth adapter. You will right-click and enable the Connection Sharing on your LAN NIC. I think you have done this already.

The only things I can think of now are firewall related.
