mushtac:
I thought this might be the case Talkiet, is the international bandwidth a bum deal when ADSL2+ could out perform the international bandwidth of fibre at a far lower cost per GB?

Nope, not a bum deal at all. It's quite common on business connections. The ISP will (should) dimension their network and international connectivity to ensure that you never have access to less than 1mbps international connectivity. There's no specific guarantee for basic ADSL, although you often get more than 5mbps.

Remember also that the reliability should be better and latency should be slightly better (although the benefit of this diminishes against ADSL the further away the website is).

Now, if your requirement is less about reliability and more about very high speed international connectivity then it's not the right product for you. You can certainly get faster international on fibre (and pay more money) or if you are prepared to trade off support, accountability, reliability and upstream speed then you might consider ADSL as well as (or instead of) the fibre.

Cheers - N

As talkiet has mentioned. While international is more expensive on fibre, business fibre has a lot more advantages around reliability, support etc. going for it. Is it possible to use NZ servers for more of what you are doing? We've found mail is one thing but what else?

Its quite likely that your ISP would allocate less bandwidth per adsl connection than for fibre customers, but adsl bandwidth is shared bandwidth anyway. If you want a particular speed for international websites then tell that to the ISP and they will charge you for it. 50Mbps sounds like the speed to the ISP only, not the speed of IP transit from them to other networks.

Time to find a new industry!
