U are soo correct... the firewall is stuffing up all my connects to the pda via bluetooth... cos now i can't even do active sync across the bluetooth... but i don't know how to get around this...there was an option in mcafee firewall to configure the network addaptor.. and it had all these options regarding allowing access through stuff like ARP, DHCP, ICMP RIP PPTP and stuff like that.. but no TCP and UDP....

i don't know how to keep my firewall runing yet get it to allow all access to my ppc

any help would be greatly appreciated

Ok the weirdest thing just happened.. i was able to get active sync back and got internet access.. but only briefly.... when i tried to active sync... mcafee wanted to install some stuff so i let it.. it was some WinCE virus scanner thing.... afterwards... in the network addaptor setting for the firewall i clicked allow for all the different protocol... and i tried active syncing and that worked...

so i tried the internet access thing and the log in screen didn't come up this time.. and i was able to use msn messenger beifly... but soon the connection was cut off and now if i try to connect again .. i get that stupid login screeen again....

so i guess the firewall kicked in to block it again but i still don't know how to get around it....

Since you're using dialup you might want to keep using a firewall. But you might want to test with other ones too...

Hi just an update:
when i want to connect to the net i had to connect active sync then run the "Internet Via __" connection and the weird login screen doesn't come up... and the net works... but shortly afterwards the network connection will drop out... but for some reason the internet still works...
i'm still testing it now and it's been working for agest eventhough the only connection active is the active sync between my computer and ppc....

weird...

anywho thanks for all your help
