Hi i'm using an Asus A620bt with an X-Micro bluetooth dongle.
I'm tryign to connect the asus to the dialup internet on the computer via the BT network.
now i've setup the BT and everything works but when i try and use the "CONNECT TO THE INTERNET" option in connection wizard on the ppc, before it connects it ask me for an Username, password and domain.. I don't know what to enter... if i enter anything.. it connects to the computer's network.. and the connection is active. but i can't access the internet on the ppc still...

I've done the "Allow Other compter to access the Internet/LAN on this computer" setting on the computer

I don't know what's going on.. please help

It sounds like your connection is not configured correctly. Are you sure the Bluetooth adapter on your computer is configured with 192.168.0.1, and the ICS is configured from your dial-up adapter to the Bluetooth adapter?

An alternative, if you want to access the internet from your Pocket PC could be using the dial-up service offered by your computer. On your Bluetooth configuration you can select the modem and devices using the DUN profile connecting to your computer will initiate an outdial. Like when you start Internet Explorer and it dials automatically.

On the computer, where the IP address is 192.168.0.1 you can also enter the DNS address from your provider. You find these by running IPCONFIG /ALL from a command line.

In general asking for a user/password indicates that the ICS is not configure correctly. Check that ICS is enabled from your connection to the internet to your Bluetooth adapter.

Next thing to check is communications. Are you using a personal firewall software, like Zone Alarm, NIS or Sygate?

As I said, if all else fails you can also use the dial-up service. Configure this on your Bluetooth Advanced Configuration on your computer (in the same list where you configured the Network Access), and from your PPC you configure like you would for a dial-up through a Bluetooth mobile phone (you can check this in our Bluetooth Guides).

Yep, ICS is the Internet Connection Sharing. You'll enable from one adapter (the one connected to the internet) to another adapter (the Bluetooth one).

The DNS is needed so your Pocket PC can translate a domain name into an IP address (from www.wired.com to 209.202.221.21 for example). That's why I asked to enter it (see my previous post).

Yep, the firewall may be causing problems. You might want to disable it for a little to test this. If it works, then you'll need to create rules to allow some communication to happen. In general you need all incoming and outgoing TCP, ICMP and UDP packets from and to 192.168.0.1 and 127.0.0.1. You should check on your software help file on how to create this.

When you enable ICS you will see a list of other adapters. If you only have two adapters, then the list will not show.

Sometimes the firewall software is not active but still filters packets - it happens with Zone Alarm for example. The sure way is to check if there's an option to not to load the software when Windows loads.
