Jgalz9: I see, so as it stands I have disabled the SPI setting in the firewall and it seems to be fine now, but we are back to the initial problem of connection dropping off randomly. Everything pings fine now too! But connection to the router drops 4 to five times a day and only can be fixed by resetting both the wireless and cable router. Any ideas?
some of the d-links used to be a bit unstable when you have one or more of the following enabled:
SIP ALG (application level gateway)
H.323 ALG
PPTP ALG
UPNP (universal plug and play)
DNS Cache
you could try disabling these features and see if your stability improves. H323 and SIP are VoIP/telephony filters, PPTP is a vpn filter, UPNP lets devices and programs 'punch their own holes' through the router and DNS Cache caches dns queries locally. Do you explicitly need any of these features that you are aware of?
