So, it sounds like you want a high-performance, high-reliability all-in-one VDSL modem/router/wifiAP, at a bargain basement price? Good luck with that. There are a number of great options on the market, as pointed out above - Draytek, Asus, Netcomm, Zyxel. There are Cisco options, too.

Im saving my pennies for a Unifi to connect to the 659A... then Ill kill the 659A radio.

dcole13: What modem do Vodafone hand out? Don't they give you a HG659 or is that on UFB only? The HG659 is a great router, really solid.

Heh no it aint.... go read the V/fone community forum.... Ive got an ongoing saga with the 659 and a lot more appear to as well.... has great features, just a pity it dosent know what to do with them ;)

interesting. ill have to hunt down said topic on their forums.

I still want a device with Cisco reliability that features dual band kick ass WiFi from Ruckus, WiFi management capabilities from Ubiquiti, routing capabilities from Mikrotik and DSL performance from Draytek - all at a D-link pricepoint.

Am I asking too much?

Inphinity summed it up nicely. Pare back superfluous features to save cost, make the core functions stable, functional and most of all manageable. It's not rocket surgery.

BigPipeNZ: Netcomm NF4V is good for an 'all in one', and under $200 (that's what I use)

Netcomm's are great, only downside is you can't access internal resources using your external IP/DNS.
