Simple fact is that if you connected LAN to LAN then TL-WDR3600 is not doing any routing and the iptable rules aren't being implemented at all.

Well Spyware, all I can say is before I put the settings in and before I configured my set up as it is there was no Netflix on either the Chromecast or PS3. I don't know if it's some kind of ironic wizardry but I can assure you that all Netflix are now working as opposed to giving location errors.

All I can say is something is making it unblocked and I can only assume it is the settings in the 3600 firewall. Surely if the signal is being sent and received via the 3600 it is able to do some filtering. Why would I get no Internet on the PS3 then add it in the DMZ  on teh dd_wrt 3600 and presto full access and really fast?

I am picking that it's doing its thing even if it doesn't make sense.

Routing occurs between WAN and LAN interfaces on the device, if you have connected routers via LAN interfaces alone (as implied by your instructions) then no routing is taking place.

I dont technically know the definition for what it's called but my household is sitting here right now streaming Netflix over Chromecast and is being controlled by my phone and also was just using the laptop also.

Yes, it is running LAN to LAN, I did realise I have got 'virtual lan ports' enabled on the 8960 if that makes any difference?

I hope this thread can help some people out there. It might not technically be routing but it's working and I achieved what I'd hoped for so I'm all good.

Thanks for the feedback.
