My mate lives opposite the entrance of Gazelle Ave, and has got UFB. I think that little area down there is all UFB now.

e.g. in the example below the cabinet will be in the middle of Trias Road

This is an assumption and not really reliable. Here is an example of my cabinet zone. Ive highlighted the cabinet location in the pic....

Thanks, I was originally going to use that photo as my example, with the cabinet on Sycamore :)

Yeah, they stick it in at the areas where the VDSL is great, and leave the rest of it to have crap 20ish on a good day VDSL.

Flatmates moving out so will bounce my connections tonight and see if his being gone means less crosstalk so more speeds for me.

How do i quote the DSL Sync rates?

For HG630, Enter http://192.168.1.254/ in browser address bar, login as user: admin, password: admin
Go to WAN menu, then ADSL & VDSL tab, and copy and paste the Line Status info.
Would be good to see the same for your friend down the road.

Are you both in the same cabinet area?  Houses near the centre of the cabinet area have the best VDSL DLM profile with fastest speeds and lowest latency.  You can guess where the cabinet is where you live, e.g. in the example below the cabinet will be in the middle of Trias Road, and if you lived at the end Tetrarch Place you will never get VDSL as fast or with as low latency, and there is not much you can do about it except wait for UFB.

hey mate here is my line status info, im not sure how far im from the cabinet, I think its at the top of my street, a couple of doors away from my mate, he seems to be able to log into xbox live and party chat in a matter of seconds where it takes me 1-2 minutes

Dude you are getting 30mbps down and 10 up. Thats actually pretty decent, better than my line. Sounds like there might be a problem with your xbox if it takes that long to load party chat. You should try his xbox on your connection and see if its still fast.

So your actually getting 30/10. Right so we are at the issue i suspected in the first place.

A, Your using wireless and wireless congestion is affecting things.
B, Your upstream is congested within your network somewhere (torrenting, Dropbox uploads, Icloud etc...)

Based off the stats you have presented, its imposible to say what DLM profile you are on however.

Start testing things, Remove every device from your network appart from An hardwired device, you should be getting 28/9 ish on a speedtest.

I do use torrents but not often and I do exit once ive finished downloading, I have heard (dont know if its true) that spark throttle during speak times could this be my problem?  Ive done a retest on my speeds and everything seems fine, even on my xbox the detailed network stats test are good download 28.7 - upload 7.43 - latency is 208 yet it still takes me 1-2 minutes to log into xbox live and party chat and I get delays playing while logged into xbox live.

If there was an issue with the xbox it self would it come up in the detailed network stats test?
