I'm pretty sure you need a couple of ACL's to tag / untag data. I don't have any experience with SwOS but the guide looks pretty easy to follow: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/SwOS

darylblake: Why are you doing a pppoe with the airport and using the mikrotik to inject vlan tags onto the pppoe connection.

I would just follow the guide on here on how to set up a mikrotik to talk to port 1 on the ONT and do the pppoe connection off the mikrotik. Then plug the airport into the mikrotik and use it for wifi.

I don't believe thats possible as I have just the MikroTik switch (RB260GS) and not the router (RB750GL)

Ive tried a lot of different configurations to get this to work tonight but not having much luck... Just coming up to that stage now where you just stare and yell profanities at the equipment to make it do what you want.

Really wish I had gone for the Router instead of the switch now! The switch does not support Winbox and the guide sbiddle put up using Winbox looks very straight forward. Anyone wanna buy a brand new MikroTik switch?

I think us (Bigpipe) and Myrepublic are the only two RSPs that offer untagged connections by default. Just makes it easier when it comes to device choice. e.g. OP could just use the Airport straight into the ONT and not bother with fiddling around with the Microtik

(we can provide tagged connections too if the customer wants it for whatever reason)

So the question is, for the OP:

Do you actually want VLAN tagging, or are you just using the microtik because your RSP makes you take a tagged connection?

Im not the OP but just hijacking the thread, I certainly have no need for VLAN tagging and they don't allow it to be removed. I should have looked at Bigpipe first, (200 up/down for $129... juicy...)

I would port across if I didn't have a $299 ETF.

I don't have any experience with this switch, but I do with others.

have you defined VLAN 10 in the 'VLANs' tab? do this and tick port 1 and 2
back on the 'VLAN' tab set:

port 1 (ONT):
vlan mode 'enabled'
vlan receive 'any'
default vlan ID '1'
vlan header 'leave as is'

port 2 (airport):
vlan mode 'strict'
vlan receive 'only untagged'
default vlan ID '10'
vlan header 'leave as is'

just realised there are different options on RB260GS and RB250GS

on the 'VLANs' tab on your RB260GS, you'll need to define VLAN 10, then set some options... the Wiki isn't very clear on what the options are

maybe set ports 1 and 2 to 'leave as is'

Will get some instructions and screens up tonight.

Got a nice ~20mbps+ (download) speed increase now that I have eliminated the HG630B from the network. Even reverted it back just to confirm it was causing a bottleneck, instant reduction in speed.

Many thanks for everybody's input and suggestions.

Just to recap the procedure in more simple terms for people like me and incase others wish to do the same setup with their connection/airport.

These instructions are for the MikroTik RB260GS switch. Also assuming Port 1 of the switch is plugged directly into the ONT and Port 2 of the switch is plugged directly into the WAN port of the AirPort.

1. Login to the switch via ethernet. Default IP for the switch is 192.168.88.1 and you will need to set your IP manually. i.e 192.168.88.2 to gain access.

I also did this using Port 3 as you will be configuring Port 1 & 2 it caused connectivity issues while I was making changes when connected via Port 1 or 2.

2. Go to the 'VLAN' tab and change fields to match below screenshot.
Port 1
VLAN Mode - Enabled
VLAN Receive -Any

Port 2
VLAN Mode - Strict
VLAN Receive - Only Untagged
Default VLAN ID - 10

Then 'Apply All'

3. Go to the 'VLANs' tab and Select 'Append'
then change fields to match below screenshot
VLAN ID - 10
Port 1 - Leave As Is
Port 2 - Leave As Is

Then 'Apply All'

4. Plug everything in and configure the AirPort.
Internet > Connect Using > PPPoE. Input ISP user and password. (May use DHCP instead of PPPoE for some ISP's?)
Network > Network Options > Configure DHCP range if required

I was getting IPv6 error message so changed mode from automatic to link-local only (Internet > Internet Options > Configure IPv6
