firefuze: Just to clarify further re the strip board / power board. I plugged the power line adapter into a power board just as an extension to get the power line unit off the wall and it works fine provided the power board does not have any fancy surge protection or filtering.
However if you use it on a power board with other devices connected to the power board like lamps, chargers etc etc I saw performance drop from the 130~200mbps average down to a pretty consistent 35~50mbps.
Pop! OS
DamageInc: So I'm thinking if you have new wiring, the latest powerlines unit and those speeds, mine being an older house with at best AV500 units not the gigabit ones, I would imagine my speeds would be a lot less. Sighhhhhhhh
firefuze: I use these: DHP-701AV Get around 130~200mbps from point to point. It fluctuates depending on electrical load around the house at any given time.. and these are suppose to be the latest and greatest! Certainly no where near the '2000mbps' thats advertised (or even possible with Gig devices anyway) Very bulky, takes up two power outlets, will work with a strip board but performance degrades. I'm using from each ends of my house which is a brand new house so perfect wiring too, if you have an older house performance could be degraded.

I had AV500 D-Link devices prior to my current ones in my old house and would still get 80-100 most of the time which worked flawlessly streaming movies from a NAS. And was over a much greater distance than my current setup too so wouldn't give up hope!
If you have a brand new house, why does it not have structure cabling?
and just because its new doesnt mean the wiring is perfect, RCD's etc in newer houses can effect power line adapters
