Finch:
I just noticed this Vodem stick, which is what I think im after?
$100 for the stick, plus around $150 in 3GB data packs. Anything cheaper lol?
$99 for 12GB and a secondhand 2d usb modem or mobile wifi hotspot(ie most smartphones do this) if you are in a qualifying area.
I would just buy a SIM card for the network that offers that amount of data for the cheapest. If your phone doesn't do the telecom networks, that leaves you with 2degrees. A sim and the data will be cheaper than anything else, in a pinch. Just have to make sure that you get 3g/4g reliable in the location though.

Good idea, not sure why I didn't think of that.
I have a Nexus 6P so could just use the mobile hotspot also if needed. Spark coverage is quite bad at my new place unless im standing in specific areas. I might go out today and buy a 2D + VF sim see what happens.
Can you still get them for $5?
Picked up 2degrees SIMs for $1 ea last week (BP). But nothing included.
Samsung Note20 Ultra, on 2degrees

The free Vodafone SIMs that came (come?) with phones also had a free $19 pack, so would have data (500MB) available. Not sure if this is the case for standard retail SIMs, given I can't find them on their own website! Really, what a crud website - nowhere can I find a link to the online store; I guessed the URL, and found phones for sale, but no links to purchase a SIM!
Vodafone's $5 data-only SIM definitely doesn't come with data, as I just spoke this morning to the call centre to check on this. Again, their website in unhelpful in that it doesn't state whether data's included or not (last time I bought a data-only SIM it came with a decent amount of free data).
