Hey guys.

I plan on watching the RL Nines over the weekend, and was planning on using FanPass. Only trouble is 2Degrees have said there is going to be a delay is getting my connection set up at my new place. The expected install date is the 5th of Feb, however I want to have a back up plan.

Is there some kind of device I can buy which has 20GB of data loaded on so to speak? I think something like the Old Vodem or Telecom T Stick from back in the day, I think I'm after something like that.

I want to be able to plug something into my laptop, then stream FanPass over the weekend.

Don't mind spending $100 or so.

Thanks!

Tether to your laptop to your phone with a data pack loaded?

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Spark only offers 5GB for $90, unless I do 10X socialiser packsbfor 1GB each, but there might be a limit. Either way, I don't think 10GB is going to be enough for around 8-9 hours of streaming per day.

2Degrees stock these, but they're $149 from 2Degrees and data is extra.

(2GB of data is included, but the 20GB you mentioned is extra)

What about that skinny broadband 60GB (Spark network).

Is there a store I can go into to buy the device? There's no guarantee it would arrive here by Saturday. If 2D doesn't get my connection setup on Friday I'm going to have to go out early Saturday morning to buy a device.

Just looked on FanPass FAQ and they mention that the average 2 hour event on Mobile at the highest settings uses 1.4GB for 2 hours, so 700MB per hour. I always stream on Mobile and just use Chromecast.

So if my maths is correct that means I need 12.6GB, with the total hours of the Nines being 18 hours. So not the 20GB I was mentioning earlier, that was just a rough guess.

I just noticed this Vodem stick, which is what I think im after?

$100 for the stick, plus around $150 in 3GB data packs. Anything cheaper lol?

Ask to borrow neighbours connection and run a long Ethernet cable?

Or just go to the pub all day and spend the $200 on beer and food :)

Thanks for the link. It looks like the Vodem may be cheaper though as it would be $250 for the device and 10.5GB of data, compared to $300 for the 2D Modem and 11GB of data.

I hope I don't have to go down this route anyway.

I couldn't quite understand it. I'm on Mobile and its a PITA scrolling between pages. So it's 60GB for $55? Is it an actual internet connection or mobile broadband? Also is there a store I can walk into to get that deal? Might not be delivered by Sat otherwise

Wow wouldn't it be cheaper to go to a pub and watch the games like someone else said above, and spend not even close to the data spend on food and drinks instead? smile

It's 4G, so, mobile.  I don't see any mention of you being able to walk into a store to get your modem but you'd need to ask Skinny that one.

However if it were me I'd spend the $200 on booze and watch at a bar..
