AFAIK the only surefire way is to tell your access points to disconnect devices under a certain signal threshold. Mine work well set to disconnect anything below -90dBm

IF you don't have that sort of control you may be out of luck

I've downloaded an app call SWIFI which allows you to set signal threshold levels. So far it seems to work.

great idea, should have the same effect, obviously only for the device you load it on...but since that was the only one causing you grief

Hi, have you tired ensuring the 2 SSID's are using different channels?

I have this problem too.  Initially, I had a wifi repeater with the same SSID and password, but our android phones and things just hung on to weak signals.  So I put in another access point (upstairs, the Huawei adsl modem is downstairs) with a different SSID, different channel, but the same password.  And they still hang on.  Have to physically log into the better one each time.  Bloody annoying.  I'll have a look at SWIFI, but since the signal levels drift around quite a bit, this may be more trouible than its worth.  Any other ideas?

Yes, pay alot more money and buy a descent, centrally manged system
Dont expect too much from cheap, home user grade wifi access points .

Money saved!  SWIFI works a treat, hugely recommended (but -- don't know about battery use yet).  Thanks, technofreak.
