Thanks heaps for your recommendations and experiences. I'm currently leaning to either the DS415Play or DS916+, with the DS916+ is the ram module upgrade-able or soldered in? There's a big difference in price ($209 for 6gb) between the 2GB and 8GB DS916+, So am leaning towards the 2gb model with the idea of maybe upgrading in future if it is possible

Easy choice.

 

I'd go for the 8GB version of the DS916+ in a heartbeat - it's worth the extra.
