ADSL2 here with a fairly old router but throwing my result in the mix for fun.

Modem: ASUS NB8WVPN
Line speed: 14514/1009 (ADSL2 to cabinet)
ISP: Spark
Exchange: St Heliers (SHB), Auckland

SpeedTest results are to Spark Auckland. Test from first floor of my home, with the router in the room directly under.

Apple MacBook Air

2.4 GHz
RSSI -79~-81db
Noise -98db
Tx Rate 36~54mbps
PHY Mode 802.11g

A tip to those on Mac OS X, if you hold down ALT when clicking the Airport/Wireless icon in your menu bar it will display more info about your WiFi connection which I've found very useful for quickly troubleshooting WiFi issues.

Apple iPhone 5S

It's interesting that despite a better download, upload and ping, SpeedTest says my iPhone's is 'slower than 70% of NZ' whereas the worse result from my MacBook is only 'slower than 59% of NZ'. Wonder there's a flaw in their calculations or if they calculate it separately whether it's from the iPhone app or the website.

here is some inssider stats from my house, i have included a floor plan to give you an idea of where the walls etc are.

**Click to make all pictures larger**

Floor Plan, measurement points labelled and the red line is a Mirror which seems to affect performance:

From 12m my connected speed on the 5GHz network was between 24 and 72mbps, where as 4m away it was 390-433mbps, that is the max for the network card in my laptop.

Where as the 2.4GHz would have still been well over 100 for that level of signal out of 150

Actual throughput at 433mbps "connection speed" is about 260mbps.

Got a 2x2 wifi card (Intel AC7260) now and its now about 500mbps down and 400up. more than enough for my 70/30 VDSL connection

ONT installed in the living room next to existing power point and aerial jack.  It is quite a central place. Getting full speed pretty much everywhere in the house. I can see it on the wall all the time but it is close to the ground and in line with other face plates so not too bad.  Will post pictures tonight.  Click to see full size
