So the message is being produced by the web browser because connection is not using valid SSL cert.

Solution:

Get someone to install master filter, which will give you a jack that shouldn't interfere with your phone calls.

Also:

Consider switching to an ISP that don't jerk you around.

With ADSL the broadband uses the copper wiring that your phone uses. It uses a different frequency to the voice frequency.

If you have a dodgy filter or dodgy wiring then when the phone is used it interferes with the broadband frequency and disconnects the broadband.

A master filter will mean the wiring that your phones plug into are separated from the wiring to your modem for the broadband. It should sort this problem.

Yeah I might try a new filter and if that doesnt work a master filter as people here have advised

A master filter isolates all the internal wiring of the premises, which a plug in filter cannot. Very often, it is issue with the internal wiring that cause the xDSL faults - essentially you are using wiring designed for low quality voice transmission and asking to to perform at frequencies many times higher.

Except on ADSL every port in use needs to be filtered or the unfiltered phone kills the internet every time it's used (as happening to the OP now)

I remember this exact problem on a flatshare I was in during the early 2000's where one girl liked to talk for hours to her boyfriend every Friday so plugged a 'sneaky' own phone in the upstairs jack next to her bed and the ADSL went down for a few hours every week. Took about two months for us to catch her and figure out why it was a problem only sympromatically and never an issue when the BT tech did line tests or even came to check the self 🙄

Lack of a master splitter filter doesn't explain this message though and where its coming from.

Some routers will intercept http traffic when the net is down and then you get certificate errors on devices as they hit the router not the actual site they want.

I have also seen macs pop up some weird thing when there was some strange arp things happening on a wifi network that sounded similar.

Change all the filters, better still as people have said, get a splitter ( master filter ) installed.

Update: I got rid of the modem filter and changed the filter on my landline to a new one and the internet now works when I'm on the phone! Thanks so much everyone for all your help
