OK, so on the face of it, you have a working fibre connection but it's not in a suitable place in the building currently.

Have you been able to find out what cabling runs from the network room to your apartment? Even some photos would be useful.

Having someone which knows the hotel ISP checking the wiring of the apartment and having a look at a proper fibre installation. (Costing up to $150 which is what I was told)

Guess i'l have to wait and see if i'm going to be taken advantage of. Not sure about the wiring, will have to see when he comes.

Hey, Im a wee bit confused.

1) you have an ONT (which I assume you organised when ordering fibre for your apartment)?

2) Said ONT is working you say i.e. lights on?

3) Whos is your ISP?  What have they said since the install and the issues you are experiencing?

4) Grab a couple pictures.....show us where the ONT is and what cables are running to/from it and the other photo of the where the cable from the ONT ends up in your apartment.

Hope that make sense?

Cheers !

@Goosey, OP's ONT appears to be in a network room in the apartment building, and is more than likely fully functional and connected. If the ONT is working correctly, this isn't really an ISP issue at all. The question is what type of cable runs from the apartment to the network room, which even some photos of the outlets in the apartment would assist with.

Just a followup incase anyone was interested.

My building manager gave up on that option(Or Chorus contracters ignored it). Been pushing for fibre, someone was supposed to look today but delayed till Mid August.

18 months in the work still(Building had a full working connection before then). Fun times.

MDU installations are a joke....

Found out its single pair which runs to my ethernet socket.

Although there is fibre capable cabling across the hall.

Indeed yep, surprised the person scoping didn't bother to look at the wiring. Someone was supposed to come today although they postponed rescoping or something to 17th and installation till 22nd.
