I purchase an ASA 5510 last week, yes it is end of life.. but guess what, it works, it has support, and no it is not a PS4.. And it blow this crap gear out of the water.

Your logic makes me despair in the future. If I own a device, like a Tesla car, I get to play with it. Do I want a root kit for my tesla, heck no, but would I want a gimped telsa ?

We as consumers need to expect better equipment and service. and YES this device is gimped !!!

I own the HG659b, I can telnet to the device, it requires credentials to login, what are those credentials.

I had to literally laugh out loud here.

You do know that the routing performance of this "gimped" router as you state it is far better than the routing performance of your Cisco ASA router?

Personally, I'd take a router that uses far less power, and can route Gigabit than a router that draws 150w and yet only has a firewall throughput of 150-300Mbit depending on how many rules you have.

You're not getting an admin password for telnet unless if you break into it yourself like on that thread I mentioned - end of story, they're locked down for a reason. Also, it makes little sense that you're needing anything above a /24 subnet anyway.

It's not gimped, it's residential consumer grade.  Buy business/enterprise grade, job done, as you've learned by getting the ASA which is an enterprise device.  You're not going to get much support for your opinion here.

Your residential grade and business grade has nothing to do with this thread, please take it else where.

In comparison to other router/firewall/wireless devices available on the market at the moment. You will stand by your statement that it is not gimped ?

Indeed - it doesn't provide proper shell access however, just a subset of commands which are still limited in their own right unless if you're running either old / hacked firmware on it.

Let us know how the ASA 5510 compares to the HG659b on a gbit connection.

As far as I can see from a quick google, the ASA 5510 is only capable of 300Mbps throughput whereas you can reach near gbit on the HG659b.

LOL you truly have no idea, I have five interfaces I can layer 3, with full packet inspection on my ASA, this HG659b does not even have telnet access, let alone ssh. My lime scooter out performs your Holden SSS in traffic (sic).

You are not adding any value to this thread, just your opinion, please stop posting.

I still need the credentials for the telnet connection to the HG659b.

I can sense your stay here won't be for very long..

You can play nice or you can play elsewhere. Make your choice. Everyone responding to your original post is trying to help, you just don't like the answer.

Indeed. I guess he didn't look at my router thread.

Locked, and goodbye...
