Hey all,

Will the Unifi NanoHD be better in terms of antennas and range than the router I currently have? I assume the answer is probably yes (after all, my current one is an ISP supplied router which usually don't have a good track record), but just want to be sure.

Given the testing I've done, if I have my phone sitting on the floor, I'm able to achieve 250 up/250down, which while it isn't quite what I was hoping to achieve, is perfectly acceptable.

The wifi adapter in my PC is pretty toast, so I think I'll need to replace that too (can only seem to achieve max 150mbps when close to the router... N600 USB adapter) - so if I replace that and get a decent adapter, plus something like the NanoHD, I'm guessing this should give me close enough to the speeds I was hoping for, even if its in the same location as the previous router.

Appreciate all the feedback here. If something like the Unifi-NanoHD would be better than my current router, then I think I'll be happy with that.

Get a USB extension and relocate it away from the PC and see how it goes.

Also if its a USB 3.0 superspeed device then its signals will basically trash 2.4GHz on its own so you really need to be on 5GHz if you are wanting to use it in a USB 3 port.

I will have to see if I can find one... I trashed all my usb extensions about 2 weeks ago while doing a clean up.

I only use 5Ghz for all my devices now, so definitely already on 5, but that aside, it's only a USB 2.0 device (TV wifi adapter from 2012, Samsung), so nothing exotic or spectacular and is of course limited by USB2.0 speeds.
