if you got the orbi you have 2 options, use the spark router turn off the wifi and setup the orbis as access points, one would need to be cabled to the spark router, and thats your network

or remove the spark router, use the orbi router, and use the other satellite where you need it.

the second options has less components and is a one stop setup

You won’t have any need for the Spark router. It is always better to run the Orbi as the main router. Daisy chaining them can cause issues.

Connection type: PPPoE

Hey Micheal,

Me again hahah need some more advice. I think im actually going to go with voyager since theres no contract. That being said I will need to provide my own router/modem (not sure if i need both as im a noob with this). Do you have any recommendations for any modem router than will be compatible with voyagers fibre. Looking for something solid but not wanting to speed anymore than $160 NZD, also sent you a message through FB if thats easier to contact you.

Anyone feel free to give your advice too, thanks in advanced!

Modems are for the ADSL and VDSL connections, not fibre. There is no such thing as a fibre modem, despite the term being fairly common. For fibre you’ll want a router. (A módem converts the analog signal in copper phone lines to digital signals used by computer networks, since fibre is digital there is no need for the analog to digital conversion capability of the modem)

If you have an android device you can download an app called ‘WiFi analyzer “, it’ll show the channels the various WiFi signals are running on. You can use this app to configure your WiFi to the optimal channel. There is a bit of a science to it, e.g. for 2.4GHz only use channels 1, 6 or 11.

i wanted to ask another question

i am on fiber 100 now and in the main living room i can get around 60-70mb speed

and in the bedrooms i can get around 40-50

so my question is if i upgrade to 200 , or say 900 max, will my current spark modem be able to deliver double or say 6-7 times respectively ( of current ) , purely going by theory,

as per given situation, or again does it have other factors like modem and area capability, etc.

im guessing you are using wifi, and upping your plans speed will not really give you faster speeds to your devices if you are already suing the AC wifi standard.

you will get 200mbps when connected to the router via ethernet your issue is wifi
